the truth whether he ever bits it or not.
Any Director could have told him that
the grant made by the Council was spent
months ago on new books. It is to be
hoped he will allow the Reformers of
Brnssele and surrounding country to
breathe without asking his permission.
To be sure he is making a record for

INDIAN linen, N. W. T.—A letter from
J. H. Young, formerly of Brussels, in
writing to an old friend here, gives some
interesting particulars :—The Hallidays
(formerly of Braeeels) live about 12 miles
North-East of here, in the De Clare Die.
triot, and are doing fairly well. Sam. is
a fine young man about 6 feet 2 inches
and built in proportion. Prices are low
this veer. Wheat No. lhard sold at 88,
40, 47 and 50o per bushel. The almost
total failure of crops in 1894 was in the
Regina, Qn Annelle, Moosejaw and other
districts. In Indian Head vicinity the
yield was from 6 to 12 bushels per acre.
We had considerable rain in June, whinb
we like to see, but one week previous to
the rain we had 2 night's frost followed
by hob winds, hence the •lightcrop. Ten
miles South of us was n good yield, 15 to
80 bushels per acre, We call the times
very doll, but there are exceptions, and
many of the old settlers who had their
implements and machinery paid for be•
fore the last three. years are in easy air-
oumstances. Othere who are judioione
in buying will pull through all right.
One trouble in this country ie reckless
purchasing and from many sellers. A
good Drop or two would set almost every-
body
verybody right again. Our wood has to be
hauled 17 miles, where we get it for 25o
per cord, but we must not cut trees larg-
er than 7 inches, The thermometer
takes au occasional dip to 46. I would
not Pay we don't feel the cold, but will
say that I have felt it worse in Ontario
of 16° below zero. I still think this is
the country for a poor man to make a
home in. I think your town has a No. 1
