of 32 years. He had been 81 for some
time and his demise was not unexpeoted.
Mr. MoDouald was a resident of Brea -

study of dentistry, The funeral took
place on Saturday afternoon, the Odd
Fellows and Sons of Scotland marching
in the procession to the cemetery.. De-

Smillie, of Brussels, a little book of
poems by hie own hand, entitled, "Rustic
Rhymes," the perusal of which gave us a
very pleasant hoar and may given many
another. Our readers will doubtless re.
member Mr. Smillie as the author of
those delight fel Australian letters which
appeared in the Expositor a few years
ago, Mr. Smillie has the true poetic
warmth of imagination and breadth of
sympathy, as well as no little construct-
ive skill. Let these two verses from "To
an Ideal" speak for themselves :
Itmay be well to sometimes dwell
With ideals pure and high,
Approaching in some manner sweat,
The robed in white we bone to meet,
In Ivory paved or Jasper street,
When travelling by- and.bye.
So,erandly true,I'11 cling to you,
In every thought and prayer,
A ssured by graces so divine
That every touch will more refine,
And help me upward like the vine,
Through fragile waves of air.

TEE DELINEATOR for March is the great
Spring number, and in our opinion is the
finest issue of this popular magazine that
has yet been published. All the depart-
ments are unusually well filled, and the
fashions have an increased value through
being the first authoritative pronounce-
ment of the Spring modes. The chief
feature of the literary matter ie a most
comprehensive obapter on Cards, their
Uses and Etiquette, by Mrs. Roger A.
Pryor, this being the first of a series en-
titled the Social Code. There is also a
very interesting first article on the Ex-
periences of Life in 8 Training School
for nurses, with an introduction by Mrs.
Frederic Rhinelander Jones. Woman as
a Musician is the subject of a "Conver-

Dr. S. R. Elliott, to which is appended a
delightful bit of verso by Miss Thomas.
