He had been 81 for some time and his demise was not unexpeoted. Mr. MoDouald was a resident of Brea - eels at one time when he commenced the study of dentistry, The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, the Odd Fellows and Sons of Scotland marching in the procession to the cemetery.. De- ceased wasa clever young men and was a general favorite with all who knew him. Mrs. McDonald is deeply sympathised with in her widowhood. Scott, Village Clerk, and they ware asked to appear before His Honor Judge Doyle, in the Town Hall, Brussels, at 2 o'olook Thursday of this week. The notice proceeds to recite ns follows :•-So soon thereafter as the motion can be heard on behalf of the above named, Thomas Farrow, who has an interest in he election hereafter referred to as a andidate thereat, for an order setting side and declaring invalid and void the Ieotion, or pretence of an election, held n the 7th day of January, A. D., 1895, t the Village of Brussels, in the County 1 Huron, under which eleotion, or pre. ended election, the above named John lees, William Graham and Adam Reid ave unjustly usurped and still do usurp the office of Publio Sohool Trustees in and for the said Village of Brussels epee the following grounds :-First, That the said election was not conducted accord- ing to law in this (a) "That a meeting of the ratepayers of the said municipality for the nomination of candidates did not take place on the last Wednesday in De- cember, as required by emotion 102 of the Public Schools Act, 1891. (b) "That the Public School Board of the said mnnioi. paliby"did not by resolution before the second Wednesday in December name the Returning Officers for holding the said election, as required by section 102 of the said Aut." (o) "That the Public chord Board of the said municipality did ot by resolution before the first day of October require the said election to be held by ballot on the same day as the lection for Municipal Oounoillors, as re. uired by section 103 of the said Act." d) "That the said election was held on the first Monday in January, being the day upon which the election for Munici- pal Councillors wee held, contrary to the provisions of motion 102 of the said Act." Second, That a number of persons voted at the safd election who were not duly qualified electors and Were not legal- ly entitle3 to vote at the eaid eleotion. Third, That the list of voters delivered by the Clerk of the said Municipality to the Deputy Rebureing Officers before the opening of the poll at the said election was not a correct copy of the proper list of voters for the respective subdivisions of the said Municipality as required by law. Fourth, That during the hours of polling at the said election the Clerk of the said Municipality improperly and fl• legally altered and amended the list of voters delivered to the Deputy Returning Officers by inserting therein and adding thereto the names of persons who were not entitled to vote at the said eleotion and who subsequent to their names being se inserted did vote at the said elec- tion. And for an order directing that the costs of this motion and of all other proceedings herein be paid by the Defend- ants or by Finlay Stewart Soots, Clerk of the said Village of Brussels, or for sash further or other order se to the said Judge thrill seem meet and se the nature of the ease shaft require. U., addressed an audience of about one hundred in the Methodist church, in. stead of the Town Hall, owing to the great snow storm. Miss Phelps is an ex• oellent speaker and proved her ability to deal with the cause and the ours of the liquor traffic, taking rather a novel way of impressing on Christian people their duty in the matter. It is the intention of this lady to re -visit Bruaeels nexb Spring and make an effort to reorganize the W. C. T. U. Mise Phelphwent from here to Mitchell. T., who will be in the Methodist church for Missionary Anni- versary services next Sabbath, is a son of the late Rev. George McDougall, so well known, and who died upon the Western plains. Rev. John McDougall he's spent all bis life on the frontier and will be able to speak, as hardly any other can, of that important part of our country. Af- ter thirty-five years spent in Missionary toil he cannot fail to both instruct and interest all who bear biro, He will preach in the morning and address a platform meeting in the evening.
