They are wfadam, zeal, patience, faith
and prayer. The first one, wisdom—A
Sabbath school teacher must study the
art of persuasion, the emotions of the
scholars must be excited, the heart must
be aroused, the will be moved into action.
We need wisdom in teaching the truth
contained in the Word, not contenting
ourselves in imparting the particulars of
the Word of God and forget that the
chief work is to introduce the children to
Christ. Tell them that it is through sin
they are lost and Christ is the only
One
who can find them, point them to Him
who died that they might live, and do not
rest till Christ is formed in them the hope
of glory. This part is the most irksome
but it is always the most profitable.
Child teaching is a work more for the
heart than the head. Zeal, the second
principle which should characterize all
teachers, such zeal as constituted the
postle Paul's life after his conversion in
reaching the gospel. In giving our -
elves to the work we must have the
cense continually before us. Love for
the Master and those He came to save
should constrain us to work earnestly and
continually for the furtherance of His
interests. The Sabbath school of to -day
needs holy, self-denying, laborious and
consistent teachers of the Word. Pati-
nae, the third element, is one we should
ry and cultivate. The indifference and
areleseness on the part of the scholars ie
cry trying to the teacher but has to be
orae. The example of Christ should be
ollowed for we never read of Him losing
His patience when He was ministering to
the people when they would not listen to
His teaching. The fourth great element
is faith, that great spirit°al principle Win..-lettau.
which is unseen, "Faith is the substance Ogle Johnston has disposed of hi
