Mr. Howe avers that the agreement, as

hence the trouble.
OBrruans.-13y reference no death an-
nouncement in another column, the sad
news is oonveyed to our readers that one
who only a short time ago dwelt within
our midst for about a year, has been
called to her reward. Mre. Blakely had
been ailing for nearly a year before her
demise and on leaving here the beet
medical skill Montreal could afford was
procured, but to no avail, only to be told
her days were few and that she was
suffering from an inward oanoer. Mrs.
Blakely bore her sufferings calmly and
died in the embrace of her Christian
faith, on the 9111 of August, her wedding
anniversary of years before. The child-
ren left to mourn the loss of a fond
mother are two girls and two boys—Jane,
married, and Mee Aggie, both of Mon.
treat ; Robert, of Chelsea, and Thomas,
soldier, iu the Canadian Regulars.

MEDIOAL.—A Meeting of the medical
men residing in the counties of Huron
and Perth was held at Clinton on Wed.
nesday for the purpose of selecting a
candidate to represent this section at the
coming election of members of the On-
tario Medical Council. In January last
Dr. Bruce Smith, of Seaforth, was se.
looted as the candidate and his election
was a foregone conclusion, but by accept-
ing the position of resident phyeioian at
Orchard house in connection with the
Hamilton asylum, his removal from the
district made the election of another
candidate necessary. The meeting Wed-
nesday was largely attended and every
portion of the district was represented.
After some discussion, Dr. Graham, of
Brussels, received the unanimous nomin-
ation and his election will likely be with.
out opposition. A resolution was pre-
eauted to the retiring candidata expres-
sing the regret of the association at the
severance of the relations which have
hitherto so pleasantly existed between
Dr. Smith and his fellow practitioners in
the Huron district.
