Comm TunpEns.—Brussels horsemen
are taking quite an interest in breeding
for speed and as a result there is a large
number of likely trotting and pacing colts
taking their initial lessons on the track.
The speediest in the number is P. Scott's
2 year old "Carlisle." He oan spin off
the quarters in lively style. A. Strach-
an, D 0. Rose, Geo. Thomson, and Smith
& McLaren, have "Oliver Wilkes"
youngsters that they expect to develop in-
to movers ; "Carlisle" is represented by
fine colts owned by W. Roddiek, 3. Hew-
itt, A. Currie, D. Ewan and W. Millar.
The latter has no less than four of this
breed besides a "Blizzard." Counoillor
Wilton is the possessor of two "Saranac"
colts and another from "Slander." Rod•
Brick Ross has a free driving "Carlisle,"
in foal to "Sydney," and P. Ameut owns
a "Thorn wood" mare lo foal to "Sydney."
In addibton to the above "Whitie" Lowry
has parnbased the tvell known horse
"Pat," pedigree not traced.
Tile suLiY,—Dr. Livingeton, a son of
"Oarliele," owned by E. Livingston, of
Belgrave, is now in training on Brussels
race traok, under the direotion of R.
Roach. The horse, although erratic, has
a great record, trotting a mile in 2:81
with comparative little training. Ms
owner refused $3,000 for him. "Living-
ston" was off the turf last year owing to
an nutrient but ie 111 good shape this
Spring. "Lord Tennyson," by Onward
King," the property of Lack Kennedy, of
Clinton, arrived on Tuesday evening,
and will be tracked bare. He hes al.
ready made a gond time and is only 0
years old. Geo. Roe has added Swartz
pacer to his string at the Revere House
stables. tdonday evening Robert Harris,
of Wroxeter, had his; Hamblitonian star•
lion, "Sorrell," on the Brnseele course
and to the eurprieo and delight of the
horsemen he trotted an eighth of a mile
in 184 seooncte or. 0 228 mile gait and
this without any training. Mr. Harris
will likely put him in for record snaking
next Fall. The horses being fitted on the
track here at present are a fine lot and
are "Florence G.,t' 2.18 ; "Terre Haute,"
four.year.-old stallion, by Allandorf ; "
Genie Pickard, by "Carlisle," 6 years
old; "Walter B„” by "Onward King,'
8 years old ; "Saranac," 2.31 ; "Dr.
Livingstone," 2.31 ; "Lord Tennyson,"

ham, called "Puzzle," and P. Scott's
"Tom," All these borne aro owned out-
side of Brussels except "Florence G."
and "Tom," a "Oarlisle" stallion that is
showing every evidence of becoming a
trotter of no ordinary merit. The half
mile traok is in A 1 condition and bobwe.
