OErT.-The silent boatman conveyed
the spirit of William Patterson, of 51115
village over the river of Death on Wed-
nesday night of hash week. The deceased
was born in Morrie township and was a
son of Michael Patterson. He was united
in marriage to Mise Jane Pugh about 12
years ago and she with three sons are
left to month. Mr. Patterson had not
been in robust health for some years but
the cause of his death was• inflammation
of the bowels. The mania was a very
severe one, lasting 5 days. Mr. Patter.
son was 85 years of ago and was a mem-
ber of the Methodist church for years.
The funeral took place on Saturday, the
interment being made at Bluevale oeme-
tery, Rev. J. W. Pring conducted the
service and preached a very appropriate
discourse on Sabbath evening bearing on
the death of Mr. Pattereon.

Onix. -On the 28rd of April Sappbaria
James, beloved wife of john Hood, died
et her home let Saginaw, Miobigan, at
the early age of 89 years. The deceased
was the eldest daughter of Philip James,

Huron Go., now of Mitohell. She was
united in marriage to her now bereft
partner thirteen years ago last October
and moved with her husband to Michi-
gan. Mrs. Hood bad been ill for about
a year and through this illness and in the
hour and article of death evinced a sbrong
and abiding faith in the Oomforbee and
proved the value of the peace the Saviour
gives. Two sons, aged 12 and 8 years
respeotively, with the father are left to
hold in fond remembrance an affectionate
mother and loving wife. The funeral
took place on Thursday of het week.
IVIr. Hood is the oldest son of George
Hood, a well known resident of the 4th
line of Morris, and his old friends in this
township sympathise with him in his
bereavement.

as Thos. Johnston, 18th con., was driving
a span of colts toward home the bolt in
the doubietree camp out and let the
whrffletrees on to the heels of the horses.
The tongue came out of the neckyoke
and in the rnad jumps of the colts Mr.
Johnston was jerked out of the wagon in
a hurry. He was dragged some diatomite
before he let go of the lines. Hie right
shoulder was dislocated and it took two
physicians to get it back to its plaoe.
,910. Johnston was fortunate in escaping
as well as he did, although he will be sore
for some time over the accident.
