notification of a change in the form of
poatoffice orders, This introduces into
the order the name of the payer and
makes the order negotiable like a bank
check. The new forms will be sent out
to postoffces as rapidly as the old ones
which they now have are used.

OBIT. -0n February 28th John Holmes,
sound eon of Mrs. Robert Holmes, Alex.
hinder street, Brussels, fell a prey to
dropsy and heart failure, aged 63 years.
He went to California about 14 years ago
and has resided there almost continuous-
ly, excepting one year he spent in Mani.
toba and Ontario. The deceased had not
been in good health for several years
previous to his decease. Mre. Aubery,
his sister, formerly of 4th line, Morrie,
was with him when he died. Her home
is in Delano.

was replaced in all the windows ; the
brink work under the stove extended past
the damper of stove ; new door at en-
trance to lookup ; cement box put at
top of hot air funnel and the floor and
wainscotting repaired, The ceiling has
been kalsomined in straw color, the wall
salmon, the wood work painted buff and
the chains and table made to appear like
new in their dress of paint, Repairs
rendered necessary by the fire, were
Covered by the insurance, viz., 840, al-
lowed by the Company.

Methodist Parsonage on 1.'nesdny evening
of this week was a decided success, not-
withstanding the rain. A musical and
literary program, of high merit, was
given as follows :—Piano eolo, Prof.

Miss Minnie MoNaughtnn ; solo, Miss
Lottie Hill ; reading, Prof. Hawkius ;
trio, Mies Hannah Ball, Miss Lucy ]Notre

comic song and encore, Prof. Hawkins.
The remainder of the evening was enjoy.

Ladies' Association by the social. The
pastor and his good lady left nothing un-
done to add to the pieasnre and comfort
of their many guests.

Coleman Bros., Seaforth, are already in
his hands, with several more expected
from other towns next work. Prelimin-
ary arrangements are being made by the
Directors of the Driving Park for the
Summer ra0es, to be held on Monday,

March 28th says :—"Capt. Jas. W. Rog•
ere, commander of the sir. City of Na -
mime, second son of Capt. Wm. Rogers,
was united in marriage this morning
with Miss Mary Emily Calbiolc, second
daughter of Mrs. Arthur Cnlbick. The
ceremony took plane at the residence of
the bride's mother, and was performed
by Rev. T. W. Hall, of the Oenbral
Methodiet obnrrh. The bride, who was
supported by her sister, Miss Annie Cal -
hick, was given away by her uncle, J. A..
Calbick, and Wm. Rogers, jr., was beet
man. A large company of friends and
relative -s sat down to the wedding break-
fast, at which the health of, the happy
couple was warmly toasted. Afterwards
Capt. Rogers and his bride left for Von•
couver amid n shower of rice. They
leave for San Francisco to morrow, and
will be absent about a month. The wed•
ding presents were very numerous and
handsome,” The many friends of the
bride in Brueaels and locality wish her-
self and husband smooth soiling on the
voyage of life.

it be borne in mind Haat all those monies
have been oollected and expended outside
of theineuranos. In the insurance de-
partment we colleoted, as shown in our
Summary Statement to the Government,
$119.145.75 and paid out in death Claims,
$71 1.73 00 thus leaving the stun of $77,.
970,7• to add to our surplus, that is, it
did not take one half our income to pay
our death claims. Surely all this indi•
sates prosperity from every point of view.
On March let there was the grand sum
