160,000 is quoted as the total vote of
the Province of Ontario. Out of that
upwards of 100,000 have been registered
favorable to Prohibition in connection
with the polling on January let. The
politicians will have to square themselves
to meet this queetion fairly and those
who dont had better be on the look out
for a soft plane to fall. Sir Oliver Mowat
and Sir JohoThompson have a portion
of their work for the next eeesioue of the
Ontario and Dominion parliaments al.

IT bas been decided that the Mid -Win-

intellectual annex, as did the Chicago

for a series of congresses and °envooa.

get says were the crowning achievement
and success, and ex•Senator Ingalls avers
were the most conspicuous failure, of the
Columbian Exposition. Agricultural
societies are to discuss bugs and fertili-
zers, and psyohical research 000151iee
and many others, more or less of the
same order, have put in application for
dates.
Ix is stated by various newapapers in
the County that Wm. Milne, Reeve of
Grey township, will likely be the Warden
for 1891. We heartily approve of the
choice as we believe Mr. Milne would
make a capital man for the position. He
is well posted on municipal matters, has
a fair acquaintance with the varioae
municipalities and has creditably pre-
sided over the most important Com-
mittees in the County Council. The
wardensbip has lingered around the
South and West of the County for a
number of years and it is time the honors
came Northward. we expeot to see Mr.
Milne eleoted to the Warden's chair on
January 23rd.
