village, is a British soldier in South

land Faeilfers. His name is Erving.

Last week Wm. Milne Bold hie 200
pore farm, lying East of Ethel on the
river Maitland, to John McDonald and
T. E. Hay, of Listowel, the price being
56,000. Robert McDonald has been in
charge of the farm for Mr. Milne for the
past few years. Mr. Milne bought two
heavy draught teams for Trout Creek
lumbering business. A.few more sales of
farms are also talked of in this eeobioc.

He will remain here for the next 2 or 3
months, visiting relatives and friende.

is not for us to say. Mr, Holmes, a
former Greyite, is farming at Paris River
and is doing well, we are pleased to hear.
The annual school meeting of S. S. No.
3 was held on Wednesday forenoon,

tainmentat S. S. No, 10, Thursday even•
ing of last week was a decided 5000eee,

very acceptably filled by Jas. Irwin, of
Brussels. The program oonsieting of
recitations, dialogues, music, &o., proved
very interesting and very often the house
came down. The principal features of
the program were the reoitations by the
pupils and the dialogues "Scone at Rail-
way station" and "That reseal Pat,"
When the program wee over the tree was
unburdened, much to the satisfaution of
young people and pupils. The proceeds
amounted to 4121. Mr. Bryan, the
teacher, assisted by the Committee,
know bow to arrange e,n evening's inn.

meat given by the pupils of S. 8. No. 8,
on Tbaroday afternoon of last week was

by Peter MaDongail, apprising him of the
death of his sister Kate, formerly of this
township, on Christmas day. She wag
married to Frank Leech and resided in
Dakota. Mre. Leech was about 33 years
of age. The mese of death is not yet
known by her relatives here. It was a
sad surprise indeed to many in the oom•
munity here who were well acquainted
with the deceased.

TEA Menenee.—The anniversary Tea
Meeting was held in the Presbyterian
Mountie here on Friday evening of last
week and was a grand success in every
particular. Supper was served in the
Sabbath eolool room ; not a skimpy,
small meal but a spread that would have
done credit to a wedding feast, including
fowl, piokles, salads, pies, cakes, tea,
coffee, 00., &e., and although 400 partook
there appeared to be a good supply left.
About 8 o'clock the program began in the
auditorium with the pastor, Rev, D. Bal.

comfortable building, packed to its fullest
