Bones AND SCOTT.—Thursday afternoon
ollast week Robb. Burns, of Brussels,
and others were at the G. T. R. depot
when the afler000n train, on which
Premier Laurier and Finanoe Minister
Fielding were going to Wingham, arriv-
ed, Mr. Burns went on board to speak
to the notables and Wae engaged fn. Don.
veraation when the train pulled out. He
was compelled to go to Binevale, from
whiwhinpoint he was brought home by
Agent Kendall ou the railway velouipede.
A Toronto Globe reporter, who was on
the train, records the inoident as fol.
lows :—It is not given to everyone to.
meet and talk to two such celebrities ae
Burns and Soots. Yet that was Sir Wit.
frid Laurier's interesting experience
Thursday afternoon while travelling
from Palmerston to Wingham. The
men with whom he conversed were name.
sakes of the celebrated oharaotere whose
memory is prized not only i0 Scotland
itself, but wherever the English tongue
is spoken. They were two aged formats
of Huron meaty, and their names are
respeotively Robb. Burns and Thos.
Scott, Tbetmeeting between these vener•
able Liberals and the Premier happened
in a somewhat amusing way. The train
was at Brussels station taking on some
freight, and Sir Wilfrid was chatting
with John Tolmie, the member for West
Bruce. In an adj50001 seat sat Mr.
Fielding, the Finance Minister, perusing
the morning papers. Suddenly the door
of the oar opened and a tall, grey -beard-
ed figure stalked down to where the first
Minister wan engrossed in conversation.
Seizing the Premier by the hand and ad.
dressing him in a strong Sooteh dialect,
the stranger exolaimed "I am glad to
see you.' Somewhat amused, the
Premier returned the salutation and bade
the old gentleman be seated. It soon
transpired that the visitor's name was
Robert Barns and that he had been set.
tied in the neighborhood ever since May
26111, 1843. "I am glad indeed to meet
Canada's Premier," said Mr. Burne,
fid I must say that I 'think Canada
hoe never been so well represented as it
le at the present moment." Soon after.
wards Mr. Scott, who was on his way to
Kinoardine, entered the oar. He also
made the Premier's acqusinbanoe, and in
coarse of conversation chatted familiarly
of "Sandy" Maokenzie, as he styled him.
(Indy Mackenzie and I worked togebh-
in our early days," said Mr. Scott.
He wee
a very fine man, and L liked
In very much." Then the speaker
peed into a reminiscent mood and told
bow, when a boy, be often saw bis
