of Berlin, formerly of Atwood, left last

Arnetta, their daughter, continues in
very poor health, and it is hoped the
obanee will do her good.—A special
meeting of the Council of Elma was held
in the Agricultural Hall, Atwood, on the
2nd June 1899. Members all present.
The meeting was palled in oouueotion
with the contract of Boyle drain and
Maitland river. Moved by Mr. Donald -
eon, s000nded by Mr. Bothwell, that
whereas the aoneraotora of the Boyle
drain have stated that in making, out
their tender that they made a mistake of
9900, and have abated that if the Commit
would pay them $000 more than tender
that they would go on with the work, the
Reeve is hereby authorized to make the
best terms he can %vith the said contract -

being Dr. J. J. Williams, of Leslie, and
Mies Annie, only daughter of the tate

Wingham. The bride was escorted by
her brother and looped very charming in

with pearls and white silk lace ; her veil

8th, the hand of death again vieited our
village and the spirit of Thoma% Nash,
er., passed peacefully to the better world
after an illnese of about six months.
Deceased was born in the town of Winoll•
cob, Gloucestershire, England, in 1828.
In 1858 he was married to Mien May
Phillipe. In the Fall of 1882 he came
with hie family to this country and for
about a year and a ball lived in the
township of Albion. While there he was
converted under the Bev. J. W. Savage,
(afterwards pastor of the (}orris Meths,
diet abuseb) and from then until his
death be was a consistent member of the
Methodist obeech. From Albion he Dame
to this township and purohaeed the South
half of lot No. 5 on, the 8th con., from
the late Hugh llollingshead, where he
resided until about a year ago, when he
removed to Gorrie. He leaves to mourn
the lose of a true !unbend, and a kind
and indulgent father, an aged widow and
a grown up family of three daughters

Some time ago Edward James had a calf
break its leg. At the time it appeared to
be a misfortune, but on Wedgeeday
after000n of last week, rte broken leg was
the means of saving him hundreds of
dollars. During the severe thunderstorm
in the afternoon, his eon Peter, and one

streak of lightning entered the stable and
