the Morris, Feild, Rogers, Co., jumped

on again the following day, after the oar
had been unloaded.

Military school, with the object of quali•
tying himself to give drill instruction to

BY•LA' DEFEATED,—Much interest was
balm in the vote Wednesday of last
weals on the Bylaw to raise $19,500 for
waterworks and electric light purposes
and a fnll vote was polled. • The results
came very quickly after the olose of the
poll and showed a majority of 71 against
the Bylaw on a total vote of 427. The
canvas for and against had been growing
in interest as polling day approaohed and
all day Wednesday the advocates and
opponents of the By-law worked hard,
very few votes being overlooked. The
majority was recorded against in every
ward except in Viotoria where the result
showed a tie. The details of the vote

We regret very muoh to have to an-
nounce this week that Rev, T. E. Higley
will soon 'sever hie connection with Trio•
icy chetah, Blyth. He has been appoint-
ed by Bishop Baldwin to the reotorehip
of the English ohurob al Blenheim.
During the past six months there were
shipped from Blyth station 107,440
bushels of grain, 601 head of oattle and
807 live hogs. The total tonnage was 4,-
555, an increase of 923 over the corral•
ponding six months of last year.
G, E. King, who was one of the hust-
ling buyers on the Blyth wool market
daring the past month, and who also con-
ducted a general store for the accommo-
dation of his wool patrons, left for his
home in Winggham last week. He says
he did so well here this Beason that he in-
tends returning again next year.

W. F, Forrest has commenced oper-
ations upon his new brick store. The
cellar is ring and the stomata foundation
is well under way. It will be a hand•
some structure when completed, and will
be built entirely of Thorold cement. It
is cheaper than briolt, and quite if not

foundations are built of clement in biilma.
