o'clock on Monday morning of last week
the spirit of Thos. 1S. Baddy winged its
flight from earth to heaven. The re-
mains were interred in the cemetery on
con. 0.—Tho spirit of Mrs, Richard Sand-
erson took its flight from earth to that
brighter world above. At the time of bor
death she was within two months of 85
years of ago. She came to Mowick over
25 years ago, and for a number of years
she has been living with her son-in-law,
Gee. Gallagher, of the 10th con., whore
she died, The remains were laid to rest
in the Gerrie cemetery.

last week. A young lady from Blyth
came here an the late train on Tuesday
night and about noon on Wednesday the

home of one of our local clergymen to be
married, The minister, after seeing that
the marriage limners presented was all
right, was just in the aot of pronouncing
•thorn man mud wife when the father of
the would•bs bride arrived on the scene,
and, in language more forcible than
elegant, declared all prooeedings oft, for
the meantime at least, and took his
daughter home with him. The young
lady was a Bliss Davis, of Blytb, and her
fitthar is the Chief Constable of that vil-
iags.

Wm. Cameron and Pater Smith, as im-

be (snarled on by Mr, Smith.—Over a
smarter of a century ago a large wooden
drain was put down in the centre of
Campbell street from the Town Hall
corner to the creek in the centre of the
village. The timbers are now rotten and
portions of the drain have been dropping
in for eolith years past,—Our village lost
an old and greatly respected oitizen on
Monday of last week in the death of Jas.
I'indlater, after a few, weeks! illness.
Deceased was in hie 56th year, and bad
been a resident of Luaknow foe more

the sick list this week. His work on Sab-
bath was taken by Rev. Mr. MoDonagh.
--Rev. Mr. Asbury and family took their
departure Monday of last week for Onon-
daga, Brant Co., the new parish Mr. As-
bnry has beau appointed to. A large
number of friends gathered at the station
to see them off.—Owing to the small at-
tendance and insoffiientfinanoial support,
the Bishop has seen fit to close the
churches of the Attwood Anglican mission,
detaching Boe'e church and uniting it

CHIatA WEDDING.—One of the most en•
joyable social events it has been the
privilege of the writer to participate in
was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
R, Kalbfleiseb, 00 Monday evening of
last week. The oodasion was the
twentieth anniversary of their wadding,
and about fifty invited guests gathered to
oelebrate the pleasing event. At 8 o'clook
the friends began to aesemble, together
with the following ladies and gentlemen
from a distance : lvvir. and Mee, Hym•
men, Mr. and Mrs. Meinke, Mr. and Mrs.
G. M. DeBus and Mrs. G. DeBus, of Bar.
lin ; Mr, sod Mrs. L.11embly, of Palmer-
ston, aicl Misses Dorothy and Huth
Meinke, of Berlin. Dr. and Mrs. Kalb-
fleisob, of Brussels, were unable to be
present owing to the latter's illness.
The merry hours slipped away rapidly.
Games of various kinds were participated
in, interspersed with vassal and inabrn-
mental selections by Mra, (Dr.) Kidd,
Mr. 13ymmen, B. NV. Ziemann and Mise
Kalbfleisob, and short address by the
Bee editor, Dr. Kidd, B. W. Ziemann
and others. A splendid supper was ser-
ved at midnight, which for elaborate pre•
partition and culinary art would do honor
to Dalmatia' himself. Costly, dainty
and appetizing dishes were provided,
which displayed the culinary ability of
the hostess in a most enviable manner,
The festal board shone with riot china
and crystal, with the added beauty of
vases of out flowers—roses, linin, carna-
tions, oto.,—placed at intervals on the
table, producing on the whole a very
pretty effect. At tba close of the de J unet'
the health of tho boat and Mathes was
drunk, after which the games and muaf-
onl exeroisea were resumed till about two
a. m., when the company dispersed for
their several homes, carrying with them
the kindliest ramotnbranoea of Mr. and
Mrs. Kalbfleieoh'e hospitality, The pre.
Bente iuoluded some of the daintiest
things in ohinawere, many of them being
costly souvenirs indeed. A handsome
china dinner and tea set, the gift of Mr.

oouneeilor of twenty years, a pair of
Venetian vases, a dainty ten service, and
a beautiful salad bowl were among the
more valuable gifts. During the nom'

Mrs. Kalbileiseh and their accomplished
daughter in our midst they have made n
host of friends who join in wishing them
many added years of happiueas and

bank, Sterling lited through it, first with
a revolver, then n Winchester rile. The
burglars fired book et him, then heat a
hasty retreat, firing eoveral shots at the
book window ftom the outside, Nothing
