MAY Mantra GODant011.—It is very un-
likely that the Grand Tenni( elevator at
Goderieh, whioh was recently destroyed
by fire, will be rebuilt by the company.
While no official announoemeut is made
by the eilluials of the Greed Trunk them•
selves, it is pretty well understood diet
they do not favor the rebuilding of the
elevator, and it statement to this effeot
may shortly be expeeted. The elevator
at Goderioh teas a very old one, built
when the old Goderioh and Buffalo Rail•
road was running between those two
points, and before the Grand Trunk had
the oonueotions the toad now enjoys.
The preaent polioy of the company is to
centre the grain businese either at Col.
lingwood, Midland or Sarnia, and Gode.
rich le bit to be an out-ot-the•way port
now. Owen Sound also wants the Grand
Trunk to erect an elevator there, but it
is ratty certain the railroad will not, do
this without a substantial bonus, and the
Grand Trunk authorities appear to ques-
tion the ability of Owen Sound to grant
any more bonuses. General Superinten-
dent McGuigan and Superintendent Fitz.
lingh, were in Owen Sound on Tuesday
inspecting the ground there, and a de.
nision in regard to that port may be ex-
pected shottly. In reaped to Goderioh
the grain bu0inees whieh the Grand
Trunk has been securing there will pro•
bably be transferred to one of the other
points where the company has elevators.

Ton New Mmit.—In accordance with
announcement, a public meeting was held
in the Town Hell on Monday evening,
8th inst., to discuss the subject of and
formulate plane for erecting a now roller
grist mill in Atwood. The attendance
was fairly large considering the bad state
of the roads and the short notice given.
On motion, David Niohol was voted to
the chair, and R. S. Pelton appointed
Secretary of the meeting. It was the
unanimous feeling of the meeting thee a
joint stook grist mill should be built aud
the there would be no difficulty what-
ever in raising the newt:eery money
among the farmers of Elma and business
men of Atwood to build the mill. John
Blantyre, Geo. Loolibead, R. S. Pelton,
D. Niofiol, 0. Vallanoe, W. G. Inglis,
Robe Anderson and others bore testi.
mony to the unanimity of feeling on the
subject and that the work of the pro•
meters was largely one of detail. The
disouselon brought forth the following
motioe, moved by Mr. Auderson, sec-
onded by Mr. Inglis : "That a joint stook
company be formed to build a roller grist
mill in Atwood, and that a stook book be
opened to receive subscriptions." Car.
teed. It was resolved to hold another
nubile meeting on Saterday, Nov. 20th,
at 2 p. m., in the Town Hall, Atwood, to
take soh further notion ae the wisdom
of the meeting determines. It was
thought by some of the speakers that
mill with a capacity 01 76 barrels a day
would be large enough and could be er-
sated and thoroughly equipped with the
latest and best, modern maobinery for
$6,500, and possibly for less, es mill
reaohinery can be purchased for less
money now than it could ten or a score
of yeere ago. An admirable site could be
purchased reasonably from Robt. Ander-
son, facing the G. T. R. yard on one aide
and a street, on the other, and le known
as that panel of lend upon whioh the old
cooper shop stood.

THE ST1111Y OF ECONOMY
Is the first step towards solving the great money -saving problem.
Your own interest demands it and this store paves the way for it. The goods and prices are here to,
be compared and judged. We want to be studied—the more we are studied the more business we do.
Every investigation unfolds the powerful principle upon whioh the foundation of our success is built.
"Price, fairness to all ; indifferent service to none." Its upon these grounds we hope to deserve and
maintain the support of a public studious of its own economical interests.
To Have or Not to have
That is the question now agitating the minds of both big and'
little folk. Chilly Winter winds must be counteracted—heavier Clothing must be bought to do it.
Time is up for putting off the Children's Cloak purchases. Every day's delay carries with it a risk to,
health. Warm Underwear and Dress Goods—they too deserve more than a lingering thought. The
buyers of this store are students of the questions, "To have or not to have and what it will be."
