COWS ON TIIE STREETS.
To the Bettor of Two 208.2:
Dna SIlt,mOn 001. 214.11 TUC PORT re.
fared to tlici matter of con ou the streets
of Brussels. I road also the hard bit of
the Mattel Now Ept, calling Brussels
oow pasture. Vor one, I think the time
has oome when cows and all other ani-
malo should be prohibited from running
at large cm tho pt,1io aerate, This is
the ease at Orengeville, Mount Forest,
Pelmet:stem Wingleen, °Wilma and every
other piece of any uoto. Every person
haviug a cow 'should keep her. My
reasonsfor this are the following :—(I)
The cows are all the time breaking down
the sidowallte and thereby rendering
Omni dangerous to walk on, especially at
night. Thou there is the expense to the
107*0 to make the needed repairs ; (2)
They aro nob fit to be used because of the
dirt to bo found on thorn in ninny places;
(8) Why should people having no oow be
compelled, at a large outlay, to keep up
fences to proton their gardens and prop-
erty against other people's ems ? I have
28 rods of fence to be kept in order. It
tacos more than $50.00 to put that fence
in place and keep it right. There were
two covve Out spent tho night in our
garden and did more than 65.00 worth of
damage. One tree that cost $1.25 was
completely destroyed. Let the electors
say whether the cows shall run at large
any longer or not. Yours,
IteilaD PALM.
