Fool BALL. -Friday of last week Brus-
sels Foot Ball team went to Wingham to
play a League match with the olub of
that town. Game was called at 6.20
o'clock, and was a bard fought battle
throughout, both clubs putting up a
strong game. Our boys soored a goal
after aboat 20 minutes play, brit the
home team disputed, claiming an off
side, although outsiders and some mem-
bers of Wingham team said the goal was
fairly taken. The referee disallowed it,
however. As time for playing was about
up, a corner kick was given to Wingham
but before the kick was taken one of the
centre half books charged Armstrong in
the goal, and upset him, and while he
was on the ground the ball was put
between the Hage and allowed, although
clearly a foul, This ended the game to
the disgust of many who say the referee
was willing to do anything to favor
Wingham. His decision gave it 1 to 0
In favor of the home team. Wingham
played MoKinnou, of Southampton, and
Hawke, formerly of Berlin, both outside
players, but the letter of the rule was
complied with by them boarding in
Wingbam for a week, although the spirit
of the law was clearly violated. Brus-
sels protested the game, but deoided
afterward to withdraw it and allow
Wingham their unfairly gotten victory.

BABE BALL. -The Seaforth Base Ball
nine, a000mpanied by their friends, paid
Brussels a friendly vieib last Tuesday
afternoon. It wasn't the moot lovely day
for a base ball match that ever was but
the rain let up for a time and evert if the
grass was a little juioy the gams was
called by Umpire Broderick about 5 0'•
olook, the home team going to bat with
McCartney and Baker es the battery.
The visitors put up good ball, not only
in the opening innings but all through, but
were unable to get very far away from
our atiok wielders. Brussels was only
blanked twine while their opponents were
treated to four coats of kalsomine but the
home team could not tally (more than 8
in any innings while Seaforth rattled out,
with the help of muffs, a 5 and two 4'e so
that when the match Closed the result
was 15 to 18 in favor of Se tforth, with an
innings to epare. Grewar did elegant
work in the box in the 1st and 2nd in•
hinge but missed his cue in the 8rd,
when the Soublienere snooped 5. D, G.
Rosa and Grower traded places fur the
next four innings and while D. C. did
very good pitching the support given at
Baena in the field woo rants owing to the
ball being wet and the grass slippery,
Brawn behind the bat did excellent wont
and is hard to beat. Jno. Duncan made
a homO run in the 8th innings, the only
one of the game. There was lots of sport
and the spectators stuck to it until after
7 o'clock, when, with cheers for both
teams the Park was vaoated. The fol.
