BEw'000 Twat Simms WAurnn.-By a oommuttioation on page 4 it will be seen that a publio meeting le galled to meet at Palmerston on Taoeday pf next week to dieoues the question of better train ser, vice 00 the railway braoohas radiating from that town and presenting the ogee to the Grand Trunk Co, The present etato of eff8iee has existed far too 1095 and the fact of thie'forbearanne and in. convenience appears to be taken as a tacit approval of the course pureoed when the very opposite is the nee. When we state that it le impoeeible to go from Brussels to Bluevaleour nearest station, a dletanpe of 10 miles, Northwest, and back ,the same day, gives some .little inkling into the state of effeire ae'bhey are. We have two trains leaving here for the East about 28 hours apart and East. ward travel ends at 946 a. m. until the next day. From the other direction our first train is 2.10 p. m., but often an hour later, instead' of one up in the forenoon. To get from Belgrave, on. the L. H. & B., 8 miles distant from Brussels, in one day by rail, a paesenger is taken to Clinton, 18 miles ; then to Stratford, 83 miles ; then to Listowel, 28 miles ; and then to Bruesele, 20 miles -a total of from 70 to 76 milee-or else the individual goes North to Wingbem and stays all night and then oompletee hie trip the next day. Onr 9.45 a. m train is away from Wing. ham before the first train North on the L. H. & B. arrives. If thee is not going rotted the world for eport we don't know what you would oall it, in fact you are a tourist by the time the trip is a000m pliehed as "round the world" oo0up'ee from 7 to 8 boure. Is this the kind of aervioe thio section of country paid for Grey township gave $85,000 to the W G. & B. and Morris township 030,000 (Brassele was then unincorporated) and surely $65,000 invested is worthy of some consideration. Brussels hap stiffs, ed end does suffer by the present arrangement both in inoonveoienoe and lose, to say nothing about the bad effect in the opin, ion of the outside world on a side-tracked town. A good strong delegationshould go to Palmereboo from Brunets and the other municipalities along this railway line and assert our rights and demand at least fair play at the hands of the railway authorities.
