Rev. Dr. Daniels, of Goderioh, will
preach in the Methodist ohuroh on Sun-
day next, and will deliver a lecture on
Monday evening. ,
TaoNxeot:viNo ANNIVERSARY.—The an-
nual Thanksgiving dinner of the Metho-
dist ohuroh was held in the basement of
that church on Thursday evening. There
was a large attendance of people, and a
very large number of turkeys, geese,
ducks, ohiokens, &o., were also there to
help along with the other dainties pro-
vided, to make an excellent spread. The
ladies of the congregation spared no pains
to make their part of the evening's enter•
tainment a success, and as a result the
tables were loaded to the breaking point,
with all things for the good of the inner
mac. It ie needless to say that ample
justice was done by all to the good things
provided, some even complaining that
the increase in their avoirdupois was un•
comfortable. After the "fill up" down
stairs ao adjournment was made to the
auditorium of the church, when a moat
excellent program was rendered, consist-
ing of addresses and mesio by the choir.
Besides the lecture by Rev. Dr. Gifford,
of Clinton, on "The man for the Times,"
the following' numbers were rendered
Doxology ; prayer by Rev. Mr. Shaw ;
chairman's address by Rev. I. B. Wall.
wino, pastor ; anthem by choir; address,
Rev, Mr. Renton ; solo by Miss Battam ;
address, Rev. Mr. Shaw ; and two antbems
by the choir. Votes of thanks were
passed to the speakers, ladies and also to
"excellent chairman," after whish the
meeting was brought to a close by singing
the national anthem. Rev. Dr. Gifford
in his lecture excelled himself. He -was
loudly applauded and well deserved it

29th, says :—"John Engel, of this village,
bad the misfortune to be shot and serious-
ly injured while hunting Thankegiving
afternoon. He was in company with
Pearl'Pritohard, Fred. Beaoh and Bert.
and Leon Douglass, South of town. The
party bad been hunting for game bourn.
In some manner Leon Douglass' gun was
accidentally discharged, the full charge
of fine shot striking Mr. Engel, who was
about 10 feet from him, in the left leg
about half way between the knee and the
hip. He wee brought to town as quickly
as possible and given the best of medical
attention. The dootors found the muscles
badly out to pieces, but the bone was not
broken. The wound is a bad one and will
lay Mr. Engel up for some time, but it ie
thought the leg oau be saved in good son.

Committee to report on the matter of
sharing in the apportionment of money.

different points in the address of Moses
to the Israelites, attention VMS called to
the great prosperity with which this Do-
minion has been favored and the many
reasons for Thankegiving by the people.
The theme was "Prosperity, its perils
and its proper nee." Among the Perils
were (1) That prosperity may lead us to
pride instead of Ohrist•like humility ;(2)
To induce in ne selfishness rather than a
means to cultivate liberality ; (3) That it
should tempt as to forgetfulness of God
when we should remember Rim ; (4) To
cause le us a spirit of self.nnfliaienoy in.
stead of absolute dependence upon God ;
(5) Leet we allow temporal prosperity to
entail spiritual loss and ruin. The die•
