office of Grand Sovereign there were two
nominations, Hon. N. Clarke Wallace mad
Major Armstrong, who for the past six
or seven years baa been Deputy Grand
Sovereign.
Mr. Wallace was re elected by a major.
ity of 60. Major Armstrong, who is pop-
ular in GrandLodge, was immediately re-
nominated for Deputy Grand Sovereign,
but deolined to stand, on the ground that
it was inadvisable for one mento monopo•
Ilse the office, and Dr. Sproule, M. P.,
was elected.
There was a protracted discussion upon
the nomination of a gentleman who ie not
a member of Grand Lodge ae one of the
Deputy Grand Chaplains. In recent
years there luta been a laxity in observing
the rule in this reaped, but Grand Lodge
determined to stand by the rules.
