ing, Clinton being the place selected
for thie year's outing. A cloudless sky
tempered by pool breezes wee the order of
the day throughout, and the freshness
and beauty of the country made the
usually long and tiring railway journey
an experience of pure pleasure. Fully
450 were on board the gaily deoorated
special train ae it pulled out of the Union
Depot at 7 o'olook sharp Saturday morn.
ing, and the number was swelled to close
500 by contingents added at Brampton,.
Stratford and Seaforth, though about 60
of these were dropped at various pointe
along the line. Excellent time was made
and the day was yet young when Robert
Holmes, M. P., John Ransford and In -
specifier W. J. Paisley, of the Citizens'
Committee, met and weloomed the ex•
oureioniste at Stratford. Clinton was
reached before noon.
Never in the history of the town had
the work of preparation for a celebration
been entered into with 'greater en-
thusiasmor parried out with more corn -
plebe success. The Exeoative Commit-
tee, of which W. Jackson was Chairman
and J. W. Treleaven Secretary, had been
untiring in their efforts, and the subcom-
mittees no Lees eo. The town was lavish.
ly deoorated with flags and bunting, while
the streets were lined with evergreens.
Many of the private residences were be-
decked in honor of the occasion. A
dense orowd on foot and in buggies was
assembled at the Stenon when the excur-
sionists arrived, and, headed by the Band
of the 48th Highlanders, formed in pro-
cession and escorted the visitors after a
parade on Albert street to the Town
Hall. Here the first and perhaps most
telling and picturesque Lettere of wel.
Dome of the day was awaiting the old
boys in the splendid luncheon provided by
the ladies of Clinton. Half a dozen tab.
lee prettily deoorated and laden with good
things stretched the length of the Hall,
and were waited on by charming ladies
of the town daintily glad in white. The
stage was reserved for the table of honor,
at which D. A. Forrester presided. To
