A Mother's Story. The remarkable adaptability of Dr. Pitcher's Backache Kidney Tablets to ell forma of Elderly and Bladder trout* le shown in the experience of Mrs. J. 0. Paisley, Munro St., Toronto. A great feature of this medicine is its aotion is so gentle that women and obildren Oen ave it without experiencing the ill effects of other kidney medicinal' on either the bowele or stomach. Mre. Paietey says ; "I had been a great sufferer from rbeumatiem, and had been treated for it by physicians. Afterwards my kidneys seemed affected. I know that they were, My book caused me much misery. To the ltdltcr of Tun l'os'e 1 believe some two or three years ago when leaving Ornsoele, I promised tw write you from this part of the West In the following note' 31 wish to convey no erroneous ideas but to state things a I see them, PrInoe Albert, on the Bout' bank of the North Saskatchewan river has always been and lstlle pringipal town of Saehatehewan. It can boast of the ehnrches of the different denominations, Pity Hall, jail and Court 1louse, Police Barracks, all modern buildiuge of No. 1 arohiteoture, and a $12,000 public 0011001 built last year, The country round Prince Albert (between the North and South branoheo) ie pretty nearly all set. fled by a most intelligent, progressive class of settlers. About sixty mtlee South of Prince Albert on the Regina. and Long Lake Railway is the fast growing town of Roethern, whioh has sprung into prom- inence and the oounlry round about has been settled mostly within the past two or three years. But the part to whish I Wish to draw your attention is that known as the Stony Creek and Leather River District, which lies about 120 miles South. east of Prince Albert, This district is probably one of the moat desirable parte of the Northwest. It is admirably adapt- ed bo mixed farming—grain growing and ranching. Large traote of hay lands exist alone at hand whioh are practically free to the settlers and there is also consider- able timber where wood and building material may be obtained. Nature eup• plies an excellent supply of water from wells of ordinary depth. This District has not beau settled as well as ire natural inducements might lead one to expeot awing to the want of a railroad. How. aver, e that will not be any longer a hindrance, orance, ae the Canadian Northern is expeoted into Prince Albert by next Fall. It is now in Stony Creek vioinity. There is plenty of good, arable land to be bought at about the name price per acre as land in Huron rents for one year with the advantage and comfort of know. ing you will have a farm and home of your own in the end. I do not think a man owning a farm in Huron would be act. ing wisely to eell to come West, but I do think there are many there who are laboring under mortgagee or heavy rent who with less labor in a short time could be in a free and comfortable condition in this Western land, Regarding the oli mate, the cold should discourage no one. True, the mercury sinks low but when it does it is generally quite calm and thus it is scarcely ever too cold for ordinary farm work of bawling hay, wood, grain, &o. Trusting I have not taken up too much of your valuable epee's, I remain, Yours truly, W. L. MoQuartme. Colleetou, N. W. T., Jan. 9th, 1901. The annual convention of the Dairy• men's Association of Western Coterie was aonolnded at London Thursday even• ing Jan. 17th, At the conclusion of the business the delegates present were treated to liberal chunks of the first prize cheese, which was kindly donated by W. A. Bethwell, of Strathallen, and out np that those present might sample ire de• licioue flavor. A complaint was made that the matter of.oream gathered butter as against the other Systeme, had not been dieoueeed by the convention, and A. Smith, of Milver• ton, was called upon to deliver an ad- dress on the Babied. Cream gathered butter is butter made from the cream gathered from the farmers, while under the separator system the milk is gather- ed, and the Dream taken from it to the factory. The system of butter making, the speaker claimed, was more important than that of the separator system. The batter made by the separator system catered to the local trade, while the cream gathered system was what was re- quired for tbe export trade.
