There were 60 of their friends present and Oapt. E. Torr Rance made a pleasant and happy chairman. The tables were a U shape and were beautifully decorated for the mouton. After everything on a very prettily gotten up menu card bad been punished, short witty addresses were given by Capt. Rance and A. B. Mae- donald. Both gentlemen spoke of the many excellent qualities possessed by both Dr. and Mrs. Tait and of the genet.. al regret :freely expressed in Blyth at their approaching departure. Dr. Tait replied on behalf of himself and Mrs. Tait, thanking the previous speakers and other friends for the many kind words and good wishes that had been extended to them. Solos were sung by Mrg. 0. H. Bennett,, Matt. Floody, Wm. Moser and Thomas Watson. The happy and well deserved dinner wae brought to a close at midnight by singing "Auld Lang Syne."
