Nature smiled in her blandeet manner
end the attendance of ladies was corres-
pondingly large. The various bate and
bonnets, &o., were duly admired and
tried on before the mirror, a feature
wonderfully dear to the feminine heart.
The displays were attractively' arranged
and in the various shades of headgear
and trimmings made a most pleasing ex-
hibition. Gray felts are very much in
evidence while many other colors and
shapes give the intending purchaser a
good choice ab moderate prices. Velvete
are particularly interesting this season,
the favorite ehadea being resede, greens,
gun metal gray, delph blue and emerald
green. Mirrored and pen velvets are al-
so used extensively ae natal, castor end
brown also. Plain velvete are still preva-
lent. Fashionable velvets have brilliant
finish and are very light in weight,
Handsome . knots and fartietio drapes
characterize many hats. The long
buckle appeare to have the lead and is
shown inthineetone, out steel and tinted
gold.
