"A mac who was too stingy to take this
paper 'sent bis little boy to borrow the
copy taken by bis neighbor. In hie haste.
the boy ran over a '64 eland of bees, and
in ten minutes looked like a warty Sum-

father who ran to hie aseietaooe, and
tailing to notice a barbed wire fence, ran
into that, breaking it down and nutting a
handful of flesh from his anatomy, and
raining a $4 pair of pante. The old oow
took advantage of the gap in the fence,
and got into the corn field, and killed
herself eating corn. Hearing the raolreb
the wife ran, upsetting a four -gallon oan
of rich oream into a basket of kittens,
drowning the whole flask. Io the hurry
she dropped a $4 set of false teeth, The
baby left alone crawled through the
spilled milk and into the parlor, ruining
a brand new $20 carpet. Daring the
excitement the eldest daughter ran away,
with the hired man, the dog broke np 11

chewed the tails off four fine shirts."

FINE GAIIE.—Seldom is a better or more
evenly 000tested game of foot ball played
biotin that of last Monday evening on
Victoria Park when the return match
between Lietowel Marlboros' and Brue•
eels team eventuated. On the 12th of
July in Lietowel oar Woken snowed them
under to the tune of 4 to 0 and as con-
siderable chaff and chatter bad been
indulged in 8inoe then and a determina-
tion by Lietowel to turn the tables a
hot game was expeoted. When the
visitors lined up it was disoovered that
they had loaded fur the match with at
least four of the Berlin Rangers, one of
the best teams in the Province, and a
gentleman from nlinton. There was a
big crowd in attendance and intense
interest manifested during the hour's
play, which was fast, eleau and with a
vim that meant whoever won would have
no walk over. Listowel scored the let
goal is the first half time and shortly
after changing ends the compliment wag
returned. Rnebee and shote on goal
came think, Listowel'e goal keeper parbio.
alarly having a busy time and his alert -
nese and capability was the only thing
that saved the visiting team from a
repetition of a snore very similar to the
former one. Shortly before the whistle
blew Tom McRae, of Oranbrook, who
played an excellent game in the forwards
kioked another goal for Lietowel and so
the matoh ended. Our boys lost but had
the satisfaction of giving the Listowel.
Berlin aggregation one of the liveliest
boar's play they have undertaken for
some time, There was a lot of ekoellent
work done by both slides, very little
"sloppy" play being notioed. The even.
ing was bob and the players fairly ewe)'.

a very uncertain quantity until the 00
minutes of play had expired. Spade is
