Onix.—At 7.30 a. ne. on Monday, July
18th, there passed away one of Melee
worth's oldest and most esteemed 011izen,
in the person of George Sangster, at the
ripe ago of 72 Beare, 4 months and 16
days. Deceased was a sufferer from a
oanser in the stomach for the deet two
months. Prior to that time be enjoyed
good health, but ein0e latterly had Buffer-
ed great agony, which increased until
death was a welcome visitor. Mr.
Sangster was a native of Aberdeenshire,.
Scotland, He name to thio country in
1854, and settled in Elora, where he lived
for 30 years before coming to Moles•
worth, where be hae resided until his
death. Hie upright life and genial die -
position won for him the reepeot of all
who were fortunate enough to make hie
acquaintance, and bis death has oast a
gloom over the entire community. A
widow, three sone and three daughters,
all grown to manhood and womanhood,
remain to mourn the lose of a kind
father and husband, They have the
empathy of all in their bereavement.

Daring the severe thunder and light-
ning storm Saturday night, the Metho-
diet ohuroh at Mayne waa struck, bat
fortunately not much real damage was
done. The lightning bolt seems to have
streak the chimney and gone down the
stove pipes and out the stove, for the
pews and floor were covered with soot
and ashes, and had to be washed up on
Sunday morning by the ladies before the

The vicinity was thrown into a state of
mourning on Friday, 13113 inst., when
word was received that Samuel Toward,
of Powaeean, only son of Mre. Howard,
of Orange Hill, had died in the hospital

while working in his lumber mill at the

very severe accident while at school.
