surrender of Pretoria, Thursday of last
week, was a trifle premature but will not
have to be done over again. Bruesele
was not alone in the jubilation, however,

Veteran Capt. J. Y. S. Kirk, clad in his

WM. SonianscT PASSED Away.—Last
week Trig Pon made mention of the
serious illness of Wm. Somerset, of this
town. Friday be took a tarn for the
worae and paeeed away Saturday after-
noon in bie 8044 year. Dtaeased was a
native of Ireland and before Doming to
Brussels, 8 years ago, resided at Tboru•
bury, Ont. He had been poorly for a
mouth prior to hie death but was only
confined to bed for about a week. Ooo•
gestion of the lungs and a kidney trouble
was the cause of hie deoeaee, coupled
with old age. Mr. Somerset resided with
hie sister, Miee Prudence Somerset, and
bad never married. His brother, John,
died eome years ago in town. The late
Mrs. John MoOotcheon, 6th line, Morrie,
was a eiater.• After an appropriate ser-
vice at St. John's church, Monday after-
noon, by Rev. G. J. Abey, incumbent, in-
terment was made at the MoCutcheon
family burial plot in Morrie.

was played on Victoria Square on Wed•
nesday afternoon between Gerrie and
Bruesele nines. The fielding was good
on both aides bot Broesele boys roved to
be the stronger, both at bat and in the

while Allison, although wild this time,
will prove himself before the seaeou is
over a great addition to Bruesele team.
