To PREVENT Exr0OToBATION.-00ntrary
to some reports, municipalities have
power to prohibit epitting in pnblio
plaoee, and of this Brussels may shortly
avail itself. An amendment to the Mun-
icipal Aot, passed at the laet session of
Ole Legislature, enabled it to prohibit the
habit of spitting "on eidewalke and pave-
ments and in the passageways, stairways
and entrances to buildings need by the
pnblio, and in rooms, balls, buildings and
plane to which the pnblio resort, street
oars, public oonveyanaes and on such
other public) places as the Contrail may,
by bylaw, designate." There is room
for our Commit bo take action as some

INTERMEDIATE 0 .t cpioNsou'.-The At.
wood Bee, whose Editor witeeseed the
recent Foot Ball matoh between Berlin
and Brussels in this plaoe, Bays in •last
week's (sane 1 -Talk about a town going
wild with joy, To realize this one had
to be in Brussels last Monday evening
when the Brussels Iubermedietes took
the Berlin Royale into oamp to the tone
of 4goals to 1. When we predicted to
some of the residents of Galt that Brae -
eels would trim. Berlin to a finish, they
thought we were a little too sanguine.
The good people of. Waterloo hove the
idea that we Northerners do not know
mach about the fine points of football.
It never seems to dawn on them that
Atwood last year downed the Galt Inter.
tnediatee, °hampiens of Ontario, by two
goals to none, However, our predictions
oame true and Brussels are now Inter.
mediate Champions. There was a mons-
ter crowd ab the game ; the -game itself
was feat and exoitiog and- the better team
won. There are some good man - on the
Berlin team, in fent as good as the beet.
The forward lined) times' played good
combination, but it waa too pretty to be
affective, They do not bore in with the
same energy as the Brussels boys, who
are generally ready to accept all chances.
We heartily congratulate the Brussels
boyo on their mous and hope that they
trim the Toronto Soots for the Obam-
pionebip of Ontario. The gate reoeipte
amounted to over $150. A torchlight
prooeseion, a large bonfire and music by
the Band testified the overwhelming of
the Broeeelites.
