Our Winter Roads.
To tate Editor of TRE POST
DEAR SIs,—Kindly allow me specie to
make a few remarks on a very important
subject, viz oar Winter Roads. There
has been any amount of talk on the plat.
form and in the press along the lines of
gond road and some Townships have on -
fits of graders and scrapers. That is se
it should be for we pass throngh this
world once and it ie nine to have good
roads to go on, but when we examine
down to the fine thing we find the etir ie
all about the Summer roads and not one
word about the Winter roads which re
minds ma of a Dutchman whom I saw
spunk up when he thought hie country
was alighted and said "the foal, be didn't
say one word about Shermany." I think
the town and township fathers would not
be doing too mach if they looked atter the
roade a little in the Winter time for tilt
ie the season for the most business on
the roads. If the thaw had not Done
when it did the Boundary road between
Grey and' Morrie would soon be impute.
able for it was next to impossible for either
sleigh or °utter to page over it. Some
will say what can we do to preventthe
pitobaholee for as long ae we have snow
storms the roads eu plaoee will he filled
as bieh as the rail or board fauna from
the Heide on each side 7 My renewer,
without fear of euooeeeful oontradiotion,
that if the•rail and board fences with all
useless trawl were taken from the roadside
and replaced I with a wire fenoe the
deeired change world be largely advanced.
At:aiu perhaps some will say the wire
fence es no good to keep the snow from
piling up betwaeu the fenoea on the rondo.
If so itis n mistelte for a wire fence, with
the poets over 20 feet a part, hasvery
little to he'd the snow, oertemly the traf
fie would capture soma snow but noticing
like the amount it there were board or
rail pensee. The traffic) on the open field
or on the prairie would oatoh the Snow
just the Same. Now what I would pro
pose is thie, that the Councils of Grey
and Morris give some assistano' in build•
lug a wire fens at each side of the road
at the bad plane and foiling to do that
to pot a man on the road twice a week on
nob five miles. The fact of the [natter
is that there ought to he something done
to improve our Winter roads whioh is the
wish of

THING CLOTHING
HE last of February we take stock. The first of this
month we commence a Stock -taking Sale and offer to the
public some of the rarest snaps that have ever been offer-
ed in the 'Village of Brussels. We have a stock of Oloth-
ing unequalled in Canada in price or quality but it must
be cleared out to make room for our big Spring purchase
which is to be shipped in March; and before we take
stock. Therefore, we will clear out some of the Newest
and most Up-to-date Overcoats, Men's Suits, Boys' Suits
and some special lines in Men's Odd Pants and Vests
regardless of cost or profit. They must be sold.
ALSO INTHE SHOE DEPARTMENT we will offera special
Stock -taking Sale to clear out the balance of our Winter Shoes
in Men's, Ladies', Boys' and Ohildren's—all solid leather
goods. We have some crackers in Women's G. G..Bal. and
Dongolas that have got down to odd sizes and will be cleared
out at LESS than the Manufacturers' prices. Men's and
Boy's marked away down to correspond. You will find here
better values and lower prices than we have ever offered before.
KOSSI 8,r
S
Our Dress Goods Department is one of the most interesting and
we are going to make it more interesting during the next two
weeks by cutting our prices lower than ever in order to reduce
our stock before Stook -taking. We have some excellent values
in Homespuns, Serges and Suitings, all in Suit and Skirt
ends, just the ticket for a nice separate Skirt or for Suits, all
the most popular shades. Also a few light colored Waist ends,
appropriate for evening wear, all selling at less than cost. -
WE have some odds and ends of All Wool Flannels, _ Flannelettes,
Prints, and Apron GinghatSs ; a feiv odd pieces of Men's Un-
derwear, Shirts and Drawers ; and BOmtl odd ,1:1708 in Corsets
and Hosiery. Everything must go before we take stock, and
our prices will do it because they are the LOWEST OF THE
LOW. No trouble to show goods.
