BRoso1Ls BY LAW APPEAL.—An Ottawa oorreepondenb Gaye :—The Sup reme Court Friday afternoon adjourned eine die. Fleet of all they beard the appeal of Brussels vs MoOrae. The point for disoneaiou is a narrow one. The village of Brussels on ite own initiative passed a by-law for the conetruotion of a sewer, and the respondents, the property.ownere, affected, moved to have the by-law gnaeb• ad, and it was gaaehed by the Court of Appeal on the ground that notice of the proposed bylaw was not served person. ally on the property owners, though it was pablicbed in the village newspaper. The court held that the provisions as to service should be strictly observed, and personal eervioe was essential. Jude - meet was reeerved. Ayleewortb, K. O., and W. M. Wilton, Councillor Plum and SecretaryTreaesrer 31'. B. Scott were appointed a Oommittee to submit a proposition to the next meet. ing of tbo town Council. The proposition is to ask the town for $100 annnally whioh is to cover the management of the Brigade, the latter to nudist of 14 men, who are to be paid whether there are arse or not. Enquiries are being made from other towns as to their methods and the satisfaction afforded. Firemen will meet again next Monday evening. There is plenty of room for an increased interest on the part of the aitizene and the Council in the betterment of present aouditions. The Fire Hall should be improved • a more systematics praatioe maintained and offioere or members of the Brigade who deoline to attend to their duties should be summarily dropped. Danger from Arse is not nearly so great in Brae. e els now n9 in the years gone by yet that is no argument as to (why the very bigheot effioienay should not be main. tained.
