Auburn S. S. Convention,
The Union Snuday Sobool Conven-
tion, held at Auburn eaoh years, have
grown to be very popular and enooeseful
gatherings, and the 14th annual held un
Wednesday of last week was one of the
brightest and most interesting in the
bietory of the aeeooiatioo. It was held
in Knox church, and the handsome and
well appointed ed:fioe proved admirably
adapted for the eeseio05.
D. E. Munro, as president, preeidod at
the opening or morning session, and after
the usual devotional exercises, a nom•
Mating committee was appointed eon.
eieling of the vario10 ministers and S. S.
Superintendents.
Reports were' made by representatives
of the various schools comprising the
association, and were generally Bettie-
faotpry.
Iiev. Mr. Gieohler, of the Evangelical
ohur'oh, Colborne, followed with an ad-
dress on "The dangers and Proteotion of
Youth:" Some of the dangers are im
pure literature, evil aeeooiatione, strong
drink and dancing, and for protection the
rev. gentleman strongly commended -the
inflaenoo and power of Divine Grace 0e
the most effeotual.
Mr. Mauro, as delegate to the Pro.
vinoial Convention, held at Hamilton in
October, 1904, made an interesting verbal
report.
,The nominating committee recom-
mended the following offioere for 1905-00 :
—President, Bev, Mr. Gieohler, Ben -
miller ; Vise Presidents, the various
ministers in the Union ; Secretary, W.
Plunkett, Auburn. Ixeoutive, the
various past and present Superintend•
ante,
Thio concluded the session, and ad•
journment was made, when many of
those preseut enjoyed a generoue lunch
served in the lecture room of the church
by the ladies of the vicinity,
THE AFTERNOON SESSION
opened with devotional exercises, con•
duotod by Mr. Munro, and then he in-
troduced the president-eleot, Rev. Mr.
Gisohler, of Benmiller, who. cordially
thanked the association for the honor
done him.
Mre. (Rev.) Hall, of Clinton, ae the
firet speaker, addreeeed the ohildren on
"Some of God's Gifts"—let Life, 2nd
Ohriet, 3rd Heaven. So nee life that
through Christ we may gain Heaven.
The illustration of thie subject was
aloofly and entertainingly given, and
the attention of the ohildren evidenced
their anpreoiation.
Mr. Yellowlegs, Provinoial Secretary,
then spoke for a abort .lime, emphaeis-
ing and enlarging on some of the pointe
made by Mre. Hall: He too, has the
happy faculty of holding the attention of
the children, and hie ten minutes were
full of bright and happy thoughts that
should not soon be forgotten.
W. H. Herr,. of Brueeele, spoke on "A,

This wan a very exoellent addreee, timely

Mr. Yellowleee then took charge of the

discussed the relation of the minister to

Thie reverence, like other good things,

reverence is not the outcome of a code of
inetructioue. These might be observed
without trne reverence, Some requisites
are, (1) this is the home of God, not a
plaoe of entertainment ; it ie a plaoe for

there might be an inoreaee of reverence

Mr, Munro then exemplified hie plan
of teaching a Bible oiaee, made op of

and it wag a very iutereetiug and profit•

Fifteen minutes were then used by
Mr. Y,Ilowleee in bringing out au8were
and opinions on a few difficult pointe in
S. S. work, and his (amity of leading
made thie a lively and interesting rem•
her on the program.
THE EVENING AND CLOSING SESSION
was ottooded by a large audience, Rev.
Mr. Gieohler was presiding. The
Bret number on the program was a paper
by Rev. John Holmes, of Blyth, on "The
study of the Bible," giving many 1x001•

not permit repeating here.
At thio point a nomivating committee
made a report recommending (1) that
John Wilson be the Convention's dele-

be tendered the various speakers and the
ohoire, iooluding the ohildren'e nhoir,

and plane of the next convention be left

all carried.
Mr. Yellowleee gave the float addreee on
"Some of the forward movements in
Sunday Shool work." &viewing the
formation and objects of the Proviooial
Aeeooiatiou, he urged ae tbiuge to be
remembered, (1) Ohri,t'e interest in the
children ; (2) the impressibility of child
life ; (3) the many and precious promisee
of the Bible. He advocated the vee of
the cradle roll, the eetabliebment of de -
Makin day, the home alas for the study
of the lesson by parents and children,
teaoher training, the more general use of
of the Bible by teachers ae their chief

The addreee was a stirring and eloquent

The aloeing exeroisee terminated a
