The residence of Chas. Wrathal WAS
entered on Sunday evening of loot week

Thomas E. Lawrence, Liotowel's otdeet
citizen, and one of the pioneore of Elm,
pe'eed away at hie home on Royal street
on Wedneedey evening, 15th-inst., at the
ripe age of over 93 yeare. Deaeaeed was
a native Canadian, of Eoglieh parentage,
and was born at Yorkville, now a part of
Toronto, in 1812. He was married in
1833 to Martha Campbell, and settled on
a farm in Simone county, near Barrie,
where he remained until 1860, when be
removed with hie family to Elms, taking
up a farm on the 2nd eon, Here he
resided until about 11 yeare ago, when
be retired from the farm and moved to
town. Of a family of eleven, eight sone
and ¨ae70 survive, three of whom,
Mre. Archer, James and George, are
living at home. The deceased was a
man of upright obaraoter, whose life was
in keeping with that of a ooneoientians
and believing Obrietian.

Mr. Dodds died atter a very brief illness
on the 1st of March. Indeed it can
scarcely be said that he was i11 at all.

and the Monday before hie death he was
not so well and towards evening medical
aid wae sent tor. The doctor speedily
noticed the ohonge and advised that hie
friends be sect for. In a few hours be

Dodde Wee 77 years of ape. tie tette a
native of Roxboroobire, Scotland. He
name to Canada 57 yeare ago and with
his father and brothers settled in the
township of McKillop. The deceased
first settled on the farm on the Otb inn.,
more recently owned by George and
Charles Dickson. He resided there for
five yeare and then removed to the •farm
on the 710 non. where be 00ntiooed to
reside until his death. He was married
to his still enrviving and bereaved part-
ner, Mary Armstrong, on the 24 a of
May, 57 yeare ago. On the following
day they started on their honecmoon
trip to Canute. Of Mr. Dodd's f•+miiy
there were fear brothers and three tuatara.
The youn9eet brother wee drowned in
Roxboro dam soon after the family
arrived in Moliillop, leaving the deceased
and Char'. and James Deride who ere
still enrviving and the Meters, Mre R.
McMillan end Mre. Merles Dickman, of
Mel:0110p, and Mre. Stewart, of Grey.
Mr. Dodds left a family of tour eon • and
four daughters, all living in the vicinity
of the old homestead except the eldeet
daughters, Mre. Wm. Elliott, who resides
in Manitoba. The eldest eon died tt few
yeare ago. Mr. Dodds was a Presbyter-
ian in religion and a Liberal in pn'itino.
He had been an elder in Cavan church,
Winthrop, for over twenty yeare. He
WKS a min of exemplary and sterling
obaraoter, of more than ordinary in=.ell(•
genoe and was upright and bonoralle in
all his dealings with his fellow men.
He waa 6ypioal of the early Bottlers of
this municipality and his death removes
another of the noble old guard who did so
much to make this country what it is.
