Leaving Brussels by the morning train, arrived in Toronto en route for New York, The journey along the Hudson river was uncommonly interesting, it gave me the moat bewildering euooeesfon of romantic objects that I ooald ever have connived. I watched the mo;tnifloent scenery which to me wag quite new, beautiful and impreeeive. I never can forget this naeoery and it it bad any endearing saeooiatione I should regret very keenly that I menet renew often the enjoyment of its beauties. There is a holy maguifloenoe in the woods and rooks along its banks which does not permit the heart to relit merely in the admire. tion of Nature but carries it to that 'some- thing lees vague than Nature, that satis- factory source of all these exquisite wonders, a Divinity. During our short stay in New York we learned much of the excitement caused by the Amerioan elections. We visited several plane of interest and found the Amerioane very hospitable, Proceeding to the great ocean liner, "Cedric," one could not fail to notices the hustle and bustle of traffic on the pier preparing for the voyage, finally everything was in readiness, the wonderful engines were started and never peaved until the ap- proaob of the tender at Queenstown. When three days out from New York we noticed sea gulls fallowing our vend and in accordance -with the addage of en- tering men this sign of a storm proved' tree, for about mid•ooean we enoountersd a very heavy gale whioh lasted for a day and a half. Daring this time no pee• anger was allowed on deck and few could leave their state -room owing to sem sickens. The sea wee rolling mountains. high and the waves Joshed over the hurricane deck and it was vain to think of Bleeping for the noise and motion, Sailors, to be sure, think nothing of snob a storm, though they reported it "the• beavieet sea this ship has yet encounter• ea" but I do say, for a novice, it requires a little philoanphy to be so cool and careless in snob new and uncomfortable situations. The captain remained steadfastly on the bridge for twenty four hours. Save for thie storm the weather was all that could be desired. The passengers of on oabin were exceedingly Moe and the stewards and stewardesses very willing to wait upon us and make ue comfortable. I was mach disappoint- ed iu not being able to attend 8.•rvt08 on Sunday morning but overcome by sea. eiakneae was obliged to anbmit as a victim, fortunately only for a day. The service however was ioterropted by the sudden illness of the minister also. Daring the week we signalled many passing ships and Bighted several spout- ing whales. It watt a glorious eight one the morn of the last day on board to see the tender from Queenstown land passengers and mail. It was bare the pilot took obarge of the "Cedric" and wifely landed about one thousand pae.engers in Liverpool. When our ship was fastened to the landing•stsge some little time elapsed before we aonld laud. After a few minutes eager Bearoh we loomed our friends who aesiooely awaited our arrival a and with a spirit it of gratitude thanked my Heavenly Father who piloted 0e safe across the Atlantic and landed me safe in the preee0oe of my 'dear sister and brother. Here again was another marvellous management of luggage. I was much taken with the ingenuity of man in eaustruoting the wonderful o Liverpool la ' dm •etas ; p g g,whoh rine and lower a with the t' ode, aleo the line of docks which I am told is seven miles in length and piths as marvellous ie the overhead electric railway and the underground railway constructed be- neath the river Mersey. We soon reach- ed our destination in 'Menhester. Since my arrival England has been visited by a vary severe now storm, blocking the trains it, many planes and so far as I can learn, English people are net prepared for this and 'therefore the suffering in intends. However se I am here only a abort time I am nimble to give much inbereeting news of tbie country but hope to visit many ancient and historic plane.
