t'YITU J011FERENCE TO POST OFFICE
IIE»INESS.
This week we will attend to one
matter, mod only one. Next week we
may take up another and so on.
First, as to how a letter or newspaper
should be addreeaed. Ae to nowepapere,
don't pat on the address with a bleak
lead penail for before getting to their
destination, obnroing about in the mail
bay, it will get rubbed off and then it goes
into the waste basket, and yon lose your
one or two Dente as the thee may be.
Now ae to the address on lettere-nee
good black ink, and write plainly, giving
all the bittern in the name and above all,
when the letter is for soma plane other
than a town or city pot in the lower left
hand oorner, the eoanty in whioh the 2,
0. is attested, No letter ie properly
addressed that lacks the County in the
left hand corner. Of all the 5 or 6 hun-
dred petrooe 01 Brussels office there is only
one man to my knowledge who doee thie
and this ie Mr, °ellen, who works for J.
Ferguson, of this town, The reason why
this should be done, namely, to facilitate
distribution and insure a safe despatch.
Oat of the thousmnde of poet othoes !t
Ontario it is impoesible for any poet
master to commit to memory just where
they are. Take for an example the poet
offioe, MoPbail, Ont. The P. M. nye
when he bandies this letter, "McPhail,
where ie this ? I don't know." What doee
be do ? He has to go to the P. 0. direotoey
and look it ap, just es the scholar bunts
the dictionary to find the meaning of a
word. But if the writer had pat in the
le band ha d acinar
