Nov. 2
in
the Library auditorium. After opning
exercises, reading of minutes and other
matters were taken up there was a dis-
cussion as to the advisability of holding
the meetings in the homes of members.
It was decided that the union meet in
the homes, Mrs. W. Pryne extending an
invitation to hold the next regular meet-
ing in her home. It was accepted and
will be held there in December. A very
interesting article entitled "Phe world
is growing better" was read by the
President.
POSTMASTER ROBB, of WALKERTON,
DEAD -Alexander W. Robb, postmaster
of Walkerton, died suddenly Wednes-
day of last week, in his 56th year, death
being due to heart trouble, from which
deceased had been a sufferer for the past
six months. Mr. Robb had enjoyed his
postrnastership for a little over 2 years,
betore that being editor of the Walker.

of the Co. of Bruce and at the time of
his death was a J. P. He was a life-long
member of the Methodist church, being
Treasurer up to the time of his death.
He leaves a widow and two children,
Dr. Harvey Robb, D. D. S., organist of
Bnnd Street Congregational church and
Miss Norma at home. He was deserv-
edly esteemed.

JUBILEE SINGERS -PLEASED.-Stratford
Herald spoke as follows of the Jubilee
troupe which appears in Brussels Towu
Hall, on December loth :--A real. old-
time colored concert was promised those
who attended the concert given in Hein-
boob's Hall last night and the promise
was fulfilled, pleasing the large number
present in every particular. Old time
plantation airs and melodies, which are
fast becoming memories of the past,
were excellently rendered by the Jubilee
Singers, numberingseven artists. Solos
duets, trios, quartettes and chorus

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE. -Thursday after-
noon of last week there was a large at.
tendance at the Women's Institute
meeting in the auditorium of the Car-
negie Library. Mrs. Rands, President,
occupied tbe chair. Dr. Hamiltou gave
a very practical paper On "The care of
the teeth," and Rev. Mr. Wishart spoke

ing for boys and girls." Miss Jessie
McLauchlln reported the proceedings
of the Women's Provincial Institute,
recently held at Toronto and did it well.
A well rendered instrumental selection
was given by Mrs. George Thomson.
The session was a very interesting and
enjoyable one., Belgrave Women's In-
stitute will visit Brussels at the next
meeting.
MATRIMONIAL -The Denver (Colora-
do) News of November 23rd, gives the
following feport of interest to the peo-
ple of this locality :-In the presence of
relatives and a few intimate friends,
Miss Emyline MoQuarrie, of Brussels,
Ont„ Canada, daughter of H. and Mrs.
McQuarrie, was united in marriage to
Chas. Pringle at the home of Wm. H.
and Mrs. Geddie, where the bride has
been a guest since last Spin. The
wedding was the outcome of a sudden
romance, for the bride abet young
Pringle when she first came to Colorado
and upon her return from Yellowstbne,
where she spent the Summer, the young
couple concluded to be married. The

Councillor Jones bas been laid up at
his home during the past week but

Mrs. D. Livingston lies received woad
that her brother, J. McVicar, of Nevada,
is making favorable improvement. The
news from her daughter, Mrs. lames
Hardie, is that she has been real ill.
She is expected home for Christmas.
A former brussels old boy, in the
person of Earl Baker, son of Mia.
George Baeker, and who lives at Cava-
lier, North Dakota, was united in mar-
riage to Miss Agnes McConnell, of the
same place on Wednesday of this week.
Mr. Baeker has a good grocery and
bakery In that town. Old friends here
wish him and his bride many happy
years.

Windsor. formerly of Brussels, seised on
Wednesday for England. He and 5
cadets- enter the Royal Navy and will be
absent a year. Ile has been at Halifax
for some time.- Clark Allis, a younger
brother, left St. Louis for New York
where he will take up the study of
Bacterology and will graduate. Philadel-
phia and Baltimore hospitals will be
visited and he will be absent from the

the recent lamented death of her bus -
baud, who was an active member of the

The .Ladies' Aid of Melville church
have -made numerous improvements
at the manse. New paper, paint and
varnish have added much to its appear
ance, while a complete eleetrie tight sys-
tem adds much to its comfort. • Token
altogether it is a property of which the
congregation may be justly proud;
ANNIVERSARY —On Sabbath, Decem-
ber toth, anniversary sermons will he
preached in Melville church by Rev.
Dr. Dickson, the well known Galt
divine. The congregation is asked so
make the occasion more noteworthy by
the contribution of $250 to meet local
liabilities for the year. Rev. Dr. Dick-
son is a fine preacher. Special music'
will be given by the church choir under
the leadership of Mrs. Addie Wright.
