Rev. Dr. Rutledge, Wingham, preached last Sunday in the interest of missions in the Methodist church here. Rev. 3. E. Cook took the ser- vices in Winghaut. Mrs. Thos. Ennis and family arrived from England last week. It is about five years since Mr. Ennis came to this country. They are comfortably set- Wed etfled in Jas. Aitcheson's house. McKillop IN TROUBLE.— Goderich Signal of last week says :—Acharge of forgery nn three separate indictments, pre- ferred against a young man from Mc- Killop township, was heard in the County Judge's Criminal Court on Wednesdayof last week. The story told beforey the judge by the defend- ant's lawyer, '. NI. Sinclair, of Brus- sels, was to the effect that his client had undertaken to act its agent for an implement firm of Barrie. Having noa in b s ass training,in his ignorance he used the name of his father with - nut his consent, in order to raise money on three notes drawn in favor of the implement firm, amnia nling in all to $858.47. A short time after- wards the accused went West to Saskatchewan hoping that the change of air would benefit his failing health. While he was away the father was confronted with these notes. His Honor Judge Doyle ruled that in any event; he should contribute $200 towards meet- ing the exppenses of the constable's trip to the West. Morris TownshipCouncil O u tml will meet next Monday, 20th inst. Last Tuesday Jaynes Bowman, M. P., left for Ottawa to attend the parliamentary session. Miss Ella Clark has gone to Guelph where she will visit Mrs. Jno. W. Morrison, her aunt. We wish her a pleasant time. We are sorry to hear that Mrs. Wm. Shedden, 4th line, has not been enjoy- ing her usual good health, but we (lust the old lady will soon be better. On the first Sunday of December anniversary sermons will be preached at Brown town, morning and eveuing, by Rev, Wren, B. A., of Ethel. No doubt there will be many anxious to hear him on that occasion. Albert McOall and sister, Mrs. Forsyth, of Frobisher, and James McCall, of Abernathy, are here on a visit to their parents, Win. and Mrs. McCall. They came owing to the poor condition of the father's health, ex -Reeve Isbister and family have removed from the 2nd line, where they spent many happy and prosper- ous years on the old farm, to Wing - ham. They carry with them the best wishes of many old friends to their new home. Mrs. John White 4th line, Morris, is visiting her brother, Robert Bruce, of Hullett, Nfr. Bruce is a former Morrisite who took up lot 19, Con., 7, and was one of the first settlers. Later on be sold nut and removed to Hallett where he has resided since. Mr. Bruce, although in his 37th year, enjoys good health and is quite active. ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES AWAY.— A former old and well known resident of the 4111 line Morris township. in the person of Robert Armstrong, rR, diad at the honed of his sou at Willow City, North Dakota, en November 1st in his 85111 year. The remains were .brought to Seaforth, where two of deceased's daughters reside, last Fri- day and on Saturday Were interred in the NlcOutheon burying ground, 8th line Morris alongside Ills wife. Mrs. Atkinson and David Armstrong came with the body from Willow Oi.ty, Mr. Armstrong's Wit and gond natur- ed banter made him an ever welcome guest although people had to know hien to understand his somewhat brusque manner. His farm on the 4th line is among the best in the town- ship and is now farmed by W. H. Whaley. Seaforth Win. Deem had a severe fall while putting up the storm windows on the Bank of Commerce. Mr. Deem was up the ladder which was being held on a box by his helper when he ran out of nails. The helper left the lad- der to geb the nails, This caused the. box to overturn and Mr. Deem fell heavily to the ground, He was badly shaken up and will be confined to the house for some time. At the same time and place the an- uual'meeting of the Hlu'on Presby- terial of Women's Foreign Missionary Society was held. Shine,. who has been a resident of the 12th con„ for many a year, removed to Brussels last week so as to be near her daughter and also more convenient to church, postoffice, etc. We wish her years of comfort in her new quarters. Oliver Turnbull, ob 1, Tax Oollector, is now on his rounds serving the notices, He will be at Oran brook December 1st Walton December. 5th and Brussels December 8th. By presenting notice at the Standard Bank, Brussels, any time up to Dec. 14th the taxes will be received and receipt given. Mrs. Laing, who broke her right arm in two places sometime ago, is improving although the shoulder is not as pliable as it used to be yet. North Huron Liberals, (Press report from Wingham) At a well attended convention of North Huron Liberals, held in the Town Hall, Wingham, Tuesday after- noon, with President, Isbister in the chair, W. H. Kerr, editor of THE BRUSSELS POST, was tendered the unanimous nomination. Iu a short speech Mr. Kerr accepted the nomi- nation and asked the electors present 10i e g v him their hearty support in the coming election. Mr. Kerr will make a strong candidate as he is well known in nearly every part of the riding, as North Huron with the exception of West Wawanosh and Ashfield is practically East Huron. Mr. Kerr was for over 25 years secre- tary of the .East Hurorr Liberal Asso- ciation. He was for many years reeve of Brussels, midis also an ex -warden of Huron County. North Huron is a Conservative riding, but the Liberals areoin into this g fight with a deter- mination urination to send a supporter of Mr. Rowell to Toronto. The very en- thilsiastic convention was a s brought to a close with rousing cheers for Leader Rowell and the candidate. - CENSUS RETURNS.
