Refuge Committee of the County
Council met at Clinton on Friday Nov.
4th. 'The Chairman, Reeve Watson, of
Seafortb, stated that he was informed
that Reeve Hill, of Blyth, had committed
two females, Annie andMerion Armour
and that the latter was insane and
dangerous and therefore not a proper
Person to be provided for in the House.
Reeve was
resent and explained
why these women had been sent. They
had about $5oo to their credit in the
bank, but tumble to take care of-thent-
selves. It was decided :hut steps should
be taken by the corporation of Blyth to
have Marion Armour committed to the
County )aril, white Annie Arelour is to
be provided for in the House -of Refuge.
Commitee was informed that ,$25 is on
deposit in the Bank of Commerce at
Gotlerieh to the•credit of the late Fred,
Marsh, who tiled in the House a few

death occurred rather unexpectedly
011 Tuesday of last week, of R. Beatty
Kirkton, one of the most prominent
men of the township of Blanshard for
many years, Mr: Beatty had been
ill' for several weeks with typhoid
fever. ' Ort Tuesday afternoon he asked
for a drink of water :and on moving
to place the.glass to his lips he sudden-
ly expired. FIe was .in his 7881 year
and was one of the oldest settlers of
the township. For over 80 years he
served the Kilkt0n Fair as Secretary
and .was one of the moat act{Se spirits
in bringing L

standing. He was also Treasurer of
the township for many years , a' Jus-
tice of the Peace incl held many other
offices of responsibility, and trust in

he leaves two sons and two daughters.

Garroch, in the 78t11 year of his age.

a sore foot. Five weeks previous to
death he was removed

and the doctors there pronounced his
trouble gangrene mud amputated his
leg. He never fully recovered from
the operation but gradually weakened,
although the end came rather sud-
denly. The deceased, was worn at
South Gore, near Prescott, on Sept.
lst-18313. When a year old he moved
with his parents to Dundas, moving
from there to Plowboro township,.
and then to Beverly township, where

event Thursday, Oct. 27th, at o p, m.,
,when the marriage of their only
daughter, Winnifred 17. J. and Her -
male G. Downey, third son of Jas. and
firs. Downey, was solemnized in the
presence of 120 guests. Rev. W.
Johnston, of Shallow Lake, uncle of
the bride,performed :formed th

Miss Mas Jardine, . EIarristoh, presi-
ded at the piano and while sweet
strains of the .wedding match floated
through the parlors, the bridal party
took their places udder au arch of
myrtle and white 'carnations banked
with fetus and palest pink mums.
The bride was very becomingly gown-
ed in white Marquisette silit with
trimmings of lace. She wore in her
hair is beautiful crescent of pearls and
briIlllLttts and carried a sheaf of bridal
noses. After congratulations the
bridal party led the way to the dining
room where a dainty wedding dinner
was served,' Here it was draping of
pick and white ribbon entwined with
myrtle. On the tables were boquets
of bridal roses, pink and avhite car-
nations in cut glass vases. The dining
room was presided over by Misses
Norma Lowick, Elsie Hutchison, Dora,
Dennis and Mae Winter, girl friends
of the bride who gracefully performed
their part in the important event.
The presents were fnilerous and cost-
ly inclading several handsome uheques,
giving evidence of the popularity of
the young couple. Guests were pres-
ent from Stratford, Wiugham,
may, Atwood, Winston, Harriston,
and Gorrie. Congratulationsandifts
wore received from Madison, Wis.,
Bismarck N. W., Calgary, Winnipeg,
Melina, Windsor, and Toronto. The
bride's going away gown was a tailor-
ed suit of t11at'One broadcloth with
