Mrs. David Durham, one of Ole first
Settlers of Mitelleli, filed at the Rouse
of Refuge, Stratford, on Sunday, 10th
inst., aged about 99 years. W14h her
deceased husband, who passed away
in May last, she came to Mitchell in
the year 1855, and remained a con-
tinuous resident until about a year
ago, when old age necessitated her
going to Stratford, where she would
receive proper care. Deceased was a,
member of Knox Church, Mitchell.

ain„Niagara hails, Ont., died on the

Harvey Willows had a narrow es-
cape the other night. While driving
to Carlingford his horse shied at some
object, and turned the buggy so that
he and Mrs. Willows were both
thrown out, but neither of them wee -e
seriously injured.
Mayor Dingman received official
word from Earl Gray that he will be
in Stratford on May 31st. He will
arrive from Berlin about 9.45, and will
leave on Wednesday morning. Tues-
day night he will be the guest of the
Canadian Club at banquet.

William and Thomas McKnight,
two Blaushard young wren, were ar-
rested by County Constable T. R. Mc-
Carthy charged with assaulting an
officer of the law. The men were tak-
en to Stratford jail, but were allowed
out on $1,000 bail. The trouble is the
ontcomeofasuit over the estate of
the late John lllcKnight, of Blansh-
atd, who died without leaving a will.
The sons, William and Thomas, who
lived at home, claimed full ownership
of the farm and other property to the
exc141880 t of their sister, who is the
wife of a Blaushard farmer. The

the farm since judgement was given
against themat the recent Assizes.

that the difficulty had been settled by
the brothers agreeing to pay over to
to their sister a substantial sum and
also agreeing to pay the costs of the
