A case was heard in the police court
when William Bell, charged with
brutal wife beating while intoxicated,
pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to
six mouths' hard labor iu the Central
prison, Bell is tau old offender, has
boon repeatedly fined and in one case
imprisoned for the same offence.

by the contending parties agreeing on.

John Denholm is filling his 44th car
of apples he has shipped this Autumn.
W. T. and Wes. McLean made a
shipment of poultry from Blyth. The
birds were shipped to New York in a
cage car, which accommodates 7,000
birds. Poultry were taken on at dif-
ferent points along the line.
Our townsman, F. Metcalf, was re-
elected a member of the L+';teuutive of
the Provincial Fruit Growers' Asso-
ciation. . He no doubt makes a
practical man at the Board as he can
talk from a wide experience.
Who will constitute Blyth Council
for 1910 a It is no easy task to dater
to the public in Municipal affairs as
many a man has fouud out when he
got to the Board. Oare should be
taken in the choice every year. No
man can please everybody, that is
certain.
The County Treasurer's sale of lands
was held in Goderich on 'Tuesday of
last week. Of thirteen'par'oels adver-
tised, seven lots in the village of Blyth
were purchased by R. J. McGee, of
Auburn ; a lot in the township of
Morris, was bought by P. J. Martin,
of Morris,' and another by Dudley
Holmes, of Wingham.

RIFLE Onun ANNUAL SHOOT. -The
annual shoot of the Blyth Rifle Club
took place at the butts here, Thurs-
day,
hursday, Friday and Saturday, 18th, 19th
