October
Weather.
A regular storm period extends over
the 1st to the -61 it, having its centre on
the 30d. The Mercury period is also
central on the 4th, extending quite to
the e 14th. 4 General cloudiness and threat-
ening weather will prevail as we pass
from September into October, but these
conditions will increase into positive
storms of rain, wind and thunder on and
touching the 3rd, 4112 and 5th. These
storms promise general rains. and will
wind up with much cooler Autumnal
winds and weather. Sections along the
North side of the country may possibly
have a touch of early sleet and snow,
along with the high barometer that is
sure to press close on the Western flanks
of these storms. It will be the proper
thing to watch for Northwesterly gales
over the great lakes at this period.
Frosty nights, when the absence of
Mercurial cloudswill
errni t will e
natural in Northerly directions from
about the 5th to the 8th.
A reactionary storm period is central
on the 9th and rotb. Although the
Mercury period and Earth's autumnal
equinox are both bearing on all this part
of October, we figure this that reaction-
ary period will bring only moderate
disturbances. The temperature will
rise and the barometer will fall and in-
creased cloudiness may result in light
rains, with change to cooler returning
about the nth to 12th.
A regular storm period is central on
the 14211, covering the 12th to 17th.
This period embraces Moan in apogee
and on the celestial equator on the 13th,
and new moon on the 14tH. About the
lith decided storm conditions will in-
crease into positive storm conditions
will begin forming in the West. 13y the
r3th and nth the temperature will be
high, and the barometer'II be to
g w, wand
falling in Western sections, and from
Wednesday the 13th to Sunday the 27th
heavy Autmnal storms. with lightning
and thunder on and touching the x3th
will pass from West to East across the
country, The same period comprises
a very marked seismic period, central
on Ole 14th. At this time the planet
Saturn is in opposition with earth and
sun within a few hours of the same time.
This astronomic outlook, all within two
days of moon's conjunction with earth
and sun on the 1411, greatly increases
the probabilities of storms, seismic
shakes and general volcanic and auroral
manifestations. This is a time when
navigators of the North Atlantic and
the great lakes should exercise care
against possible danger. Change to
much colder, with high barometer and
violent gales will wind 0p this period.
A reactionary storm period is central
on the 19th, loth and zist. This period
finds the moon at greatest declination
South on the retie whichfact will help
to incite disturbances of a boreal nature,
that is, a tendency to cold rains, with
atmospheric currents flowing from
Northerly directions, On the West and
Northwest tangent of rain areas at this
time, it will not be surprising if spurts
of early snow and sleet appear, and as
precipitation and cloudiness move out of
the way to the Eastward, fair weather,
frosty nights and low temperature gen-
erally will spread over the country for
several days. The moon's first quarter
ou the mud will tend to prolong and
aggravate storm m once weather inclemeu-
c,es of this period.
A regular storm period is central on
the 26011, extending from the 24011 to
the 29th. This1erio d is embraced in
the on coining Venus period, and will
doubtless show some of the Venus
characteristics. Look for falling bar-
ometer, ]sigh temperature and electri-
cal storms on and next to the 2,3t11
and 27th. These conditions will begin
to show in Western parts as early as
1110 24011 and 25th, brit as they ad-
vance Eastward very general aucl
positive storms will touch many
localities from Tuesday, 20th, to Fri-
day, the 29th. Careful students of
those forecasts will not fail to Mote
that the moon is on the celestial
equator on the 20th, in perigee on the
27t11, and full on the 28th.
