AT the Dominion bowling tournament
at Toronto the Toronto cup was won by
the Ottawa civil service rink, of which
Fred. J. Shannon, a Goderich boy, was
lead, and R. R. Farrow, son of Post-
master Farrow, town, was skip. The
victory was well earned and was a very
popular one.

THE "Corn Feast" beld Monday even-
ing under tbe auspices of the Epworth
League was a decided success, quite a
large number of citizens helping to rid
the tables of "hot" corn. After the
"feast" a short program was given in
the school room of the church consisting

Mits. 5, C. MONTEITH DEAD.—The
deatb took place Thursday morning at
the family residence, corner of John and
Douglas streets, Stratford, of. Elizabeth
Gibson Monteitb, wife of John C. Mon-
teith, real estate agent, and an ex -mayor
of that city- Deceased, who was in her
57th year, had been ill for about two
yearsof anaemia, paralysis taking place
about a year ago, since which time she
has been almost helpless. She was a
daughter of the late Samuel Monteith of
the Gore of Downie, where she was other tallies were made and so the result
born. She was married in 1876, and the stands. If protest is allowed another

to be an untiring and zealous worker
and we hope that Providence will bless
the Ryan family in tbeir new field of
labor. Next Sunday services at Becher
and Wallaceburg Rev. Ryan will deliver
his farewell sermons.
THE GOAL PROTESTED,— A great
crowd witnessed the semi-final game of
Foot Ball on Victoria Park last Friday
evening when Green River stalwarts and
Brussels met for the Provincial Foot ball
honors, Spectators were present from
Clinton, Blyth, Wingham, Wroxeter,
Listowel and Seaforth and intermediate
points. Luckoow Kiltie Band was in
attendance. At Green River the week
previous the home team won by r -o so
Brussels started in Friday evening with
that handicap. It was expected to be a
strenuous effort and so it proved. No
goals were scored in the first half but
only it few miuutes elapsed in the
second half before our boys evened the
score. They had been having the better
of the play but their shooting was bad
and the visiting goal keeper saved
many shots from- counting. The hour
and a half expired before any change
was made in the tie and the shades of
evening were closing. It was agreed to
extend the time for to minutes. The
ball was carried toward Brussels' citadel
but was kicked outside the line and
without any notice being taken of the
fact it was played oil the borne goal and
put through. A protest was made at
once which will be beard of later, No
