MRS. JOHN GALLAHER DECEASED.—
A very large concourse of friends at-
tended the obsequies in connection
with the death of the late Mrs. John
Gallaher iu the Methodist church,
Gorrie, on Monday afternoon 7th inst.
Rev. Mr, McTavish preached a very
impressive sermon. Part of the
choir were in attendance and a trio
"0001e unto" was rendered during
the service. .A,s the inourners and
friends were leaving. the church the
choir sang, "Sete the arms of
Jesus." Mrs. Gallaher was an every-
day Christian. The beautifying in-
fluences of religion were spread over a
life and character as spotless and
charming as was ever possessed by
any of the noble women who have
lived and died during the ages that
aregone. It is difficult to paya fitting
tribute to the memory of so noble a
woman—one whose every day life
was embellished by the most charming
and lovable atteibutes of her sex.
No one ivas more willing to aid the
suffering, cheer the desponding, sus-
tain the weak, and to throw .over the
frailties of our race the mantle of
Christian charity, and when sickness
and death came to her, as ib conies to
neighbors and friends vied with
each other in acts of loving kindness
and tender solicitude. In the presence
of slush a sorrow how cold and impo-
tent are words and how doubly deep
would be the gvief over the grave did
nob the rainbow of Christian hope
span the dark gulf between time and
eternity and such pore bright lives in-
spire the belief that there is a better
world beyond, where the good and
true are reunited "after lire's fitful
fever," The end Was as peaceful as
the close of a beautiful Sutumer day,
when daylight fades into uight with
increasing lovelincies. To Cho large
circle of relatives We extend our sin-
cerest sympathy and feel assored that
the passing away of Mother will but
be a stronger incentive to tight living
