TKim, funeral of clerk of thelrtown�o G derich
took place Monday llth inst., from St.
George's church, the congregation of
which the deceased was a member.
Mr. McKim was until 'a short time
ago in the drygoods business, taking
the clerkship about a year ago. Fox°
eighteen years he had been a resident
of Godertch, before that time having
been in business in several different
places. Fora number of years he was
in business in Barrie, where he lost
his first wife and child, Mr. McKim
was a member of the Masonic order,
and the services Monday afternoon
were under Masonic auspices. He is
survived by his wife. In the dis-
charge of the duties of clerkship he
was always an efficient and courteous
official, and in addition to being clerk
of the town he was secretary of the
water and light commission. The
members of the town council and the
officer's of the town attended the fun-
eral in a body.

cheese convention` held in Brantford.
The year 1908 was the most disaster-
0us year to the Elena Farmers Mutual
Fire Insurance Co, since its organiza-
tion, yet notwithstanding a heavy
loss, it has a balance of $4,951.98. The
amount of business written for the
year was $1,100,350.00 ; the amount
cancelled and expired was $926,855,00
Ieaving a net amount in force of
$2,592,425, at the close of the year, be-
ing an increase of $172,495.00 in the
amount at risk. The expenditure for
the year was 019.913.16.
EYMENEAL.-At the residence of
the bride's sister, ltIrs. Joseph F.
Heughan, Queen stt'eet, East
Toronto, on Christmas eve, the
marriage was celebrated of Miss
Adelaide Victoria Currie, formerly of
Walkerton, to A. Ernest Calvert,
manager of the Home Bank, West
Toronto. The ceremony wets per-
formed in the' drawing. room, which
was prettily decorated In the Christ-
mas colors, and Rev. B. J. Currie,
Oil Springs ; Rev. H. E. Curie,
Londesborp, and Rev, J. B. Currie,
Rutherford, the bride's brothers, of-
ficiated. The bride was unattended,
and wore an empire gown of white
silk crepe de chene and bebe Irish lace
with sunburst of pearls, the gift 61 the
groom, and carried a shower of bridal
roses and lilies -of -the -valley. After
the wedding breakfast. Mr. and Mrs.
Calvert left for a short honeymoon,
the latter attired in a brown broad-
cloth suit with hat to match. They
will reside in West Toronto on their
return.
