L+'rneet Turnbull arrived in town on
Monday of last week after being in
California for several months. Ernest
intends remaining in this country for
a while before going back to his new

Miss Phoebe Jackson, after an illness
of .two months, passed away at the
home of her brothers in Mina West,
on the 18th. For over fifty years she
had been blind but bore her affliction
with great patience..
Rev. A. MacVicar, B. A., who has
been in charge of the Presbyterian
Ohou'chfor the past four years, has
sent in his resignation to the Presby-
tery, the resignation not to take effect
until the last of September, when the
jubilee services will be over.
The Presbyterian church is now
undergoing very extensive repairs,
and the Jubilee Anniversary Com-
mittee are now preparing a history of
the congregationalism its organization
and intend,having; the sante published
hi book form with photographs of
sone of the most active workers be-
fore the date of the anniversary.
Souvenir cards are being sent out to
all those who have moved out of the
congregation asking them to bepresent

One of Ehna's most highly respected
residents passed away on Wednesday
morning, 'tithe person of John Mor-
rison, of Newry. For about 35 years
he carried on a blacksmithing trade
in the village of Newry, but failing
health a year ago forced him to give
up work and he sold his business. Mr.
1VIolmis0n took a lively interest in all
matters of business in the interests of
the township.

It is with regret that we announce
the death of MargaretWhitfield, relict
of the late John Morrison, of Newry,
at the ripe old age 0185 years, 1lnonth
and I0 clays. Mrs. Morrison had been
enjoying excellent health until about
three weeks ago when she complained
of a pain in her foot. It was not
thought serious at first but it gradual-
ly became unbearable and when medi-
cal
edical aid was summoned it was found
she was suffering from gangrene. All
that could be done was in vain, and
she breathed her last on Monday July
6th. Mrs. Morrison leaves to mourn
the loss of a kind and loving mother
1 son and 4 daughters, viz., David, of
Calgary, Mrs. S. Brown, of Wyandotte
Mich.: Mrs. Layburn, Palmerston and
the Misses Mary and Agnes at home.
Much sympathy is extended to the
bereaved family in their sad loss.
