R. N. Duee.
Nies. (Rev.) W. J. WEST,
Bluevale, Aug, 13111, 1907.
Mrs. (Rev,) West made the presenta•
lion of the trowel, Mr. Maxwell, al-
though disclaiming any claim to
being a public speaker, replied in
a most suitable manner. He returned
thanks for the kind expressions con -
rained in the address and for the pre-
sentation of so fine n trowel. Called
to mind the old days in the history
of the congregation and remarked
holy rapidly time was flying And cal-
ling away so many of his old associates.
4o years ago be and the late Mr,
Murphy had officiated es captains at
the raising of the old frame church,
He urged unity and helpfulness and
wished the pastor and congregation
great success in the years to come.
Mr. Maxwell then went through the
usual focmnla and declared the corner
stone well and truly laid. The stone
bears tbe dates T858-1907.
Rev. Mr. Boyle, rector of Wingham,
was called upon for the closing prayer.
The Doxology was heartily song and
the pastor pronounced the Benedic-
tion and this interesting ceremony
catne to a conclusiou.
The people then repaired to the
spacious lawn at R. II. Deft's com-
fortable residence tvliere the ladies
had an elegant supper prepared to
which the great crowd did ample
justice, several hours being necessary
to complete the somewhat onerous
task to those wbo acted as waiters.
The program came next, with Rev,
Mr. West presiding, and consisted of
a °twice anthem by the choir with
Miss Moffatt as organist ; selection
by the Harmonica Band and encore;
short addresses by A. Hislop, M. P.
P. ; Dr. P. MacDonald, of Wing -
ham ; and Me H. Kerr, of Brussels ;
with a well rendered musical bill of
tare by the Wingbam Band.
Although the evening was a trifle
cool the large company did not ap-
pear to be in any hurry to say Good
Night. The pastor and congregation
are to be congratulated on the pro.
nonuced success of the occasion from
any viewpoint ainl it augurs well for
the successful completion of the new
edifice.
