THE POST commends Heron Co. Council in their decision not to pur. ohaae from Mr. Plumeteel 80 aoree of land adjoining the House of Refuge farm at Clinton, In our judgment the Go. now own all the lend they oan work to ad- vantage and to expand $7,000 for what is not essential M not business, The experience of Reuses of Refuge has been that large farms are ad worked to advantage ae too few ot the inmates are competent to render much help. The Go. Oonnail had better leave well enough alone end be satisfied with the 50 acres already poeseesed. WITH the rousing Liberal Convention held at Remelt last Friday was tom. plated the round.op of Liberal stand- ard bearers for the next Election to the Dominion Parliament and the trio will preeent a strong front when it comes to the line of battle, even if the ridiuge are all in the possession of the "enemy" at the present. In East Heron Aroh, H oop, EL P. P. for Nee riding for the pest three terme, wilt oerry the banner. HM aoquaintanoe with the major portion of tbe riding and his experience in past oempaigne ehould dand him in good stead in tbe effort to replace this con. stituenoy in the Liberal column. Robert Holmes, editor of the New Era, Clinton, and an alert ex.M. P., le the nominee in Wad Huron and will have a good show of canoe more repreeetding the riding. HM defeat at lad eldatien WFIQ an un- expected event and is not likely to 00 - car again. South Heron Liberale have looked in unanimity for several years and to this tacit wee no doubt at. tributable the defeat at the hast contest but with the (Mold of M. Y. MoLean, of tbe Baron Expositor, who represented South Huron for years in the Legislature, there promisee to be a retying of the disunited foroee and every probability ot winning the day. The Conservative Nominating Conventions are to be held iu the near future and the 1:A431011one are the three sitting marabere, Dr. Obis - holm, of Wingham, bo tbe East; E. N. Lewis, ot Goderioh, for the West ; and B. B. Gann, of Seaforth, for the South, will again be plaoed in nomination. All the Liberal Conventions were well attended thereby atteeting the interest felt in the very important matter of gel. ting ready for the fray. A lively hustle will be made you may depend to redeem the three Hurons at the next eleotion while josh as determined an effort will no doubt be pat forth by the Opposition to retain them.
