furthest end of the building. and by
the time MP, Elliott found the animal
be was too late to saye it. Turning
round to make his escape he found
himself confronted by the flames.
There was but one chance, to run
through the fire, which Mr. •Elliott
did, pulling down his hat and bolding
bis breath, It was about fifteen feet
to tile outside Ma and In his passage during the afternoon and evening,
through the flame his hair svas singed Other spurts are being arranged, Be -

Brussels Foot Bailers headed for

Thursday evening of last week a
goodly crowd witnessed the Inter-

Victoria Park here when Clinton and
Brussels were tbe contending clubs.
Brown Jackson, the well known Sea -
forth sport, was the referee and did
his work tvell, although we hardly
think be is as anxious to follow the
ball with bis bodily p0050000 55 he was
in an earlier period of his history. The
visitors were not in it on Thursday
evening and goal keeper Anderson bad
not a Maoism to hardly see what the
sphere was like. The bail was kept
10 clase proximity to the Clinton goal
and4et little scoring was done largely
owing to the excellent work by
goal keeper conch and the sturdy
backs, Game ended with the score of
1-0 in favor of Brussels. There were
nnmerons close calls but they don't
count as well as goals, In the semi-
finals the goals are reckoned instead of
tbe matches hence we had very little
to crow about in this regard on our
own ground. Owing to illness with
measles the almost unsurpassable half-
back Stevensoo was unable to play and
his place was taken by Will Henderson
who, although unacquainted with
champion football, put up a most
ereditable game. The line up was as
