of Listowel, brother of Thos. Rae, of
this place, passed through the village
to the Wroxeter cemetery last Pride,

under the auspices of the C. 0 F.
The French; Greene Co. gave a first
class play entitled "Bezel Kirke," in
the Town Hall Friday evening. The
hall was filled with an enthusiastic
audience which thews how popular the

cellent one. If our Library is to be
kept in existence it will be necessm v

The debate Of last Thursday even-
ing en the Million "Resolved that
women have hcol more influence
throughout history than men" was a
splendid success. Misses Berea
13ryans. Bessie Moses nod Myrtle
Wilson upheld the affirmative, while
Duncan MneDomild and J. E. Maun-
ders upheld the negative. The
ladies came out winners. The sub-
jeet for discussion Thursday evening,
Feb, 2ist, will be "Resolved that
rural life is preferable to city life."
A good musical and literary program
will also he provided. The debaters
will be Mrs, John Cutt, Miss Margaret
Snell and Win. Moses for the afar=
tive and MiSSOS Lizzie and Elsie Stra-
chan and Archie Messer fur the nega-

Adam Fletcher, who is 111 with

King is not recovering as rapidly as

has been removed to the home of his

more conveniently. He is 87 years
age.

He was born in the Comity of Down,
in Ireland, in the year 1813, and came
out to this coontry with his 'parents
when very young. His parents settled
in Belleville when they arrived, and
then. a somber of years later moved to
Blanshard. He was Married in St.
Idarys to Dina fleunah Cotten. He
then moved to Grey and remained
hero for thirty yeare, whetnee he
twined to his present homesteed in
Elena where he tsar been living for 15
years. His wife now survives hitt
with a familylef five deughters ane two
sons ; Mrs. John A. While, of .Grey ;
Mrs, Jaeob Corbett, St. Marys ; John
McCutcheon, Walled° Wm. McCut-
°boon, Blom ; Mrs, Vin, Johnston.

is now et home with her mother,

endeavor. Encouragement thought-
fully given to lives heroically lived
among the common things of life will
bring tbe cheer and warmth of sun-
shine into many struggling and
burdened beats, Too often praise is
tardy and overtakes the worthy only
at the grave. Send love's missives not
to those whose cares are ever searching
for "the sweet music of applause" but
to those to whom just praise is
a debt as an expression of our sym-
pathy and an inceptive to all worthy

church here on Tuesday evening,

audience. Anniversary sermons will
be preached the Sabbath previous.
At the Young People's meeting in
Knox church on Sabbath evening,
3rd inst , a helpful topic "What
Christian Endeavor means to me and
the world" was taken by Misses Me
Gillivray and Forrest. A choice duet
was rendered by Mines Long and
Porter.
Miss DRON DEAD.—Thursday of last
week Miss Ann Dron, who has made
her home here for the past few years
passed away. While somewhat eccen•
tric site was of a deep religious torn
and was well versed in the Bible and
took great pleasure in contributing to
the Bible Society. The funeral took
place to the cemetery here on Friday

Councillor Graham reported that, an

day of last week was fairly well at.

the "Horse." Thos. R. Bennett, of
Wroxeter, read his essay on "Weeds,"
and T. McMillan gave a talk on "Beef
Cattle." The discussions were very
good. The delegate says it was one
of the best afternoon meetings he has
had for some time, Tbe evening
meeting was a great success, the fine
hall being filled to the doors. Ad-
dresses were delivered by the speakers
of tbe afternoon and a program as
follows :—Instrumental selections by
the Misses Adams; solo by Miss
Gibson ; and a recitation by Mr.
Gregg. Miss Maddock, of Guelph,
, was also present and delivered a
splendid address in the evening on
"A Girl's Possibilities."
