Institute which was held here on Sat-
urday was well attended. The speak-
ers were Mr. Shearer, of Bright, and
Mr. Jones, of Maitland.

WEDDING BELLS IN El -sue -The
residence of A. P. and Mrs, Fraser,
end con. of Elm, was the scene of
a very pleasant event on Christmas
night, when their youngest daughter.
Mary, was united in the holy bonds
of wedlock to John Forman, one
of Eima's popular young farmers.
The ceremony was performed by
Rev. J, S. Hardie, of Listowel, in the
presence of only the immediate rela-
tives of the contracting parties. The
bride, who was beautifully attired in
white Persian lawn, trimmed with
valenciennes lace and imertion and
carrying a shower of carnations and
narcissee. entered the drawing -room
on the arm of her brother while the
sweet strains of the wedding march
were being played by Miss A. Balla*.

groom, made a charming flower girl,
carrying carnations and smilax. After
the congratulations, the company ad-
journed to the dining rooni, which
was decorated with holly and ever-

served. The bride was the recipient
of numerous and costly preeents.

by public auction, was not sold as the
reserve bid was not reaelied.
A pig was butchered by D. W. Duo
bar that dressed 58o pounds. It was
of Tamworth breed and could have
been increased in weignt by feeding
longer. Mr. Dunbar killed one last
year that outdid this one,

Miss Jean Habkirk, of Brussels, was
a visitor with Mrs. D. McDonald last
week.
Clinton King, who left Morris 17
years ago, died in Detroit of cancer of
the stomach. Fle was a brother-in-law
of Mrs. L. W. Ruttan who attended
the funeral.
Robert Eaket, who has been in the
West for the past 8 months, is home
on a visit. He will go back in March
to work on cement contracts with his
uncle, P. J. McDonald, of Brussels
Mr, Eaket was employed in Monroe's
wire feuce factory in Winnipeg where
be did well. He is visiting in Strat-
ford this week renewing old acquaint-
ances.
Wm. Holt, 1st line has leased his
too acre farm, East of here, to the
Hamilton Bros., for two years and
they get possession this Spring. Mr.
Holt will go to Kashabowe, 183 miles
North of Port Arthur where he will be
employed on .the Northern Pacific
railway. Mrs. Holt and children will
continue to reside in the house. Ow-
ing to the change in affairs Mr. Holt
will hold nn auction sale of farm stock
implements, &e. on Tuesday eeth inst.
It will be 14 years on that date since
he came to the farm.
The farin of Leonard Rutter), tst
line Morris, has been leased to his nep-
hew of the same name for a term of 5
years, possession to be giveu on Marcb
tat. Mn. Ruttan has decided to take
a rest from farming after a residence
there of 45 years. He hasarranged for

ments. &c. on Friday afternoon, Jan.
esth. Robt. Gamins will be the aim-
tioneer. We have not learned whether
Mn. Ruttan has definitely settled as to
where he will reside but we hope they
won't get very far away. On the 3rd
of next May Mr. Ruttan sr. will attain
his gist birthday. He is quite hale for
a man of his years,

Simpson, both highly esteemed young

Mrs. Thos, Watt, of Mio, Mich.,
is visiting the Misses Simpson. Miss-
es Slade and Johnston, of Galt, are
also guests at the same home.
Last Sabbath evening Ell Smith
occupied the pulpit of the Methodist
church here. The pastor was unable
to take his work but is making favor-
able progress now and will likely re-
sume his regular services next Sabbath.

family have moved into upstair apart-
ments in the block It is said the

Gent's turniellings. His territory will
be the North Westerly nart of Ontario.

Miss Ruby E. Forbes, graduate of
Wingharn Business Coilege, is visiting
friends on the 4th line prior to her de'
pasture to take a situation in Toronto,
Jno. Reeds, a former resident of the
6th line, is here from South Dakota.
It is 26 years since he moved away
from here. He is well pleased with
Dakota.
This week James Speir disposed of
a three year old filly to Andrew His-
lop, of Grey, that tilted the scale at
lets. He got a good price and Mr.
Hislop a good mare.

A short time ago James Dunne in
attempting to save 'himself from a fall
in his yard strained the muscles in his
leg and has been laid aside from his
usual activities but we hope he will
soou be all right.
Adam 5. Smith, of Deloraine, Man.,
arrived here on Tuesday ou a horse
purchasing tripand will return as soon
as he secures his car load. Mr. Smith
bas been in the West 18 Years. He
says the Winter is a severe one in
Manitoba.
Albert L. Cole, of Newark, N. 1.,
formerly of the 6th line Morris, who
studied for over a year as mechanical
draughtsman and who took a position
at this work. in Newark N. J. before
trying his exam , has we are pleased to
state written on his exam., and receiv-
ed his diploma from the Scrantot,
Pene„ School, from which he took his
coeree.
Old and well known residents of the
end line in the persons of Wm. tied
Mrs. Forrest, have removed to Brus-
sels where they had a house waiting
them. Mr. Forrest's health has not
been vigorous but As he is getting
up toward So years of age he can bard.

and an aunt to the latter.

pleasant events of the season took
place at the Methodist Parsonage.
Alameda. Sask., on Jan. 2nd, when
Rev. C. H. Cross united in the holy
bonds of matrimony Miss Caroline
Brandon and Simon Fersyth, both
of Frobisher, Saskatcbewan. The
bride was becomingly attired in a cos-
tume of pearl grey silk colienne with
trimming of chiffon and. applique.
After the ceremony the happy couple
drove to the home of the bride's
brother, W. L. Brandon, where Mrs.
Brandon served a most bountiful re-
past to the immediate relatives of the
bride and groom. Among the pre-
sents, which were useful and costly,
was a haodsome gold watch and chain,
the gift of the groom. Mr. and Mrs.
Forsyth have taken up their residence
on Mr. Forsyth's farm near Frobisher.
The best wishes of the community
follow them to their new home. 'rho
groom was a former Morrisite.

which was beautifully decorated in
green and white, and took their
places under a large wedding bell.
Little Kisses Helen and Margaret Gar-
niss, nieces of the bride, daintily gown-
ed in white silk, acted as flower girls,
carryiag baskets a white and pink
carnations. The Wedding March was
played in duet by Miss Edna Isbister.

gowned in cream silk eoltenne over
cream taffetta, with tulle veil caught

presence of a number of friends and
relatives. Congratulations being over
all repaired to the dining r000m where
a sumptuous dinner was served and
after which Mr. and Mrs. Cadwell,
left for Toronto, Niagara and Chicago
prior to their departure for Saskatoon
where they will reside. The bride was
the recipient of many handsome pres-
ents among which was one presented
by the pupils of Department III
Stayner, where she had taught during
the past four months. Many good
wishes will accompauy the happy
couple to their Western home where
we trust health wealth, and prosperity
may attend them.

Peter McNeil have been laid up with
the prevailing cold and bronchitis.
The 75 acre farna of Alex. Campbell,
Lith con., has beeu sold to Wilson
Evans, of the same line, for 84,500,
john D. McNeil, an old and highly
respected resident of the r4th con., is
not enjoying good health this Wiuter.

field. All reported a splendid time.

relatives in Grey, Morris and Brussels.
Their home is Souris. Manitoba. The
termer is a son of D. B. Moore and
Mrs. Moore a daughter of Wm. Telfer,
or this township.
