That earliest slight break in home ties—the
morning when THE boy or THE girl first trudg-
es off to school! From that day, the changes
are rapid. Every year you note them. And,
almost before you realize it, there comes the
severer sundering of those ties, when John or
Mary with a cheery 'Will be home for Ohrist-
mas, sure," waves a stout farewell.
Both of you are choking back sentiment. And
afterwards—how pictures, showing all the
rapid transitions, do help.

Egg And Poultry Marketing
While the activities of the Live
Stock Branch of the Dominion De-
partment of Agriculture with regard
to the organization of Co-operative
Egg and Poultry Marketing Associa-
tions have been largely confined to
date to the Eastern Provinces of the
Dominion, the need and opportunity
for work of this kind in the Western
Provinces have not been overlooked.
From the fact that co-operative
marketing of poultry products was
samething entirely new. it was
thought advisable to thoroughly teat
out the practicability of the system
before extending it to a wider area,
Satisfactory results having been ob-
tained in the East arrangements are
now being made to extend the work
to the Western Provinces,
The new field to be organized will
receive the benefit of the experience
of men who have been associated with
the co operative work since its incep-
tion. Mr. T. A. Benson, who for the
past three years has been in charge Of
the co-operative organization in Prince
Edward Island is being transferred to
the Province of Alberta to fill a poei;
tion similar to that which he has held
in Prince Edward Iceland.
Mr. ,X. H. Hare, who has had an ex-
tensive experience in this work, not
only with the Ontario Provincial De-
partment of Agrieulture, but also dur-
ing the last two years with the com•
metrial and marketing end of • the
work undertaken by the Live, Stock
Branch, bas been given general super-
vision of the Egg Circle work being
conducted by the Branch. Mr, Bare
is nosy in the Western Provinee and
will devote the greater part of his
time for the next year to directing'
operations there, For the present he
will confine his activities principally
to the Province of Saskatchewan,
Mr. R. J. Allen, B. S, A, has been
appointed to take immediate charge
of the organization of co-operative;
Egg and Poultry marketing Aseocia,
tions in Manitota. Mr. Allen has had
an extensive eitperience not only ill
Departmental work but also in the
oomniercial field and goes to Mallii.O It'
well fitted to Carry on this work ef-
fectively.
Mr. Wm. Kerr, B. S. A. who was
in district representative work in On -
tarso for tome time prevtoua to joining
the staff of the Live Stock Branch,
and who has been associated with Mr.
Henson in Prhiee Edward Island slurs

"Can you not hear we, young man in
the street ?
Is it nothing to you who pass by ?
Who down the dint lit ways in thous-

From here I watch you through the
driving cleat,
Under the evening sky
Hurrying home,
Home! How that word sounds like a.
bell,
I wonder can you know as 1 Icno.w
well
That in this trench
Of death and strenoh
I stand between your home and hell.
I am the roof that shields' you from
the weather
I ant the gate that keeps the brigand
back,
When the pillage, fire and murder
comes together
I am the wall that eaves your home
from sack
Mani When you Iook upon the girl
you prize,
Osn you imagine horror in those eyes?
You have not seen, you cannot under-
atand
This trench is England, all this ruined
land
Is where you wander, street or field,
or strand
Save for God's grace, and for the guns
that rest
Upon this dripping mudband of the,
west;
Our blood has stained your threshold
—will you stain
Your eoul, give nothing and take all',
our gain?
Why did I come ? I ask not nor re-

Something blazed up inside me and I
went
The khaki fringe is frayed and now a
rent
Needs men—needs Mien, and I am al.

Night and the "ready"—so sleep well,
My friend
The guns again are going
I must stick it to the end.
Fourth Tuberculosis Sunday

Suedes, in the Churches throughout

14th, The movement has again been
endorsed ny representative bodies of
clergymen of all denominations --Ang-
lican, Methodists, Catholics, Presby-
terjane, Baptists, and Congregation-
alists.
2150 ministers throughout the pro-
vince will be supplied with an "Outs
line of Sermon or Lecture" showing
what Tuberculosis does; what it is;
what the predisposing causes are; the
immediate causes; the commonest
early symptoms; how the disease may
be treated and cured; how prevented;

That there is needless suffering and
death right in our midst, through the
scourge of Consumption, is too well
known to need argument.
