We regret very much the illness of
W. H. Kerr of the Brussels Post, he
having undergone an operation at the
Clinton Hospital.
Mre. Jae. McGill and daughter are
moving from the farm to the village
and have leased the house owned by
Mrs. Bengough.
Mr. and Mrs. Price and Mra. Horn
are leaving the village this week, Mr,
Price having engaged with Miller
Proctor, Bluevale road.
Mr, Archie Brydes has sold his 100
acre farm on the 9th line of Wawanosh
to David Dunbar. Mr, Brydes pur-
poses moving to the village.
A large number of the youug people
belonging to Calvin Church were en-
tertained at the manse, on Monday
night, by Rev. A. M. and Mre. Boyle.
Mr. Christopher Johnston has dis-
poeed of his 100 acre farm on the
gravel road north of Rlyth, to his
neighbor, Thos, Bell, who gets posses-
sion at once,

The regular meeting of the Women's
Institute will be held on Friday°of this
week in the Foresters' Hall at 2.30.
Dr. Stewart will give an address on in-
fectious diseases. All the ladies of the
community are cordially invited to be
present.
Miss Lillie McLean has been engaged
as organist for Knox Church. Miss
McLean being a very efficient 'Musician,
the congregation are to be congratu-
lated on securing her services, as good
music puts forth impetus into congre-
gation' worship.
Mr. Three Scandrettlmas sr Id his fame
adjoining the village, to Samuel Jor-
dan of Vancouver, who is moving here
and taking possession at once. The
price was $4000. Archie Brydges has
sold to Dave Dunbar. We expect Mr.
Scandrett and Mr, Brydges to become
residents of the village.
Wedding belle were ringing at the
borne of Mr. and Mrs. Alf. Bradburn,
East Wawanosh, on Wednesday, Mar.
lith, when their only daughter, Vera,
was united in marriage to Mr. Cor-
nelius McCrae of Belgrave, by Rev. T.
H. Farr of Blyth. They will reside on
the McOrae homestead at Belgrave.
The Farmers' Club will meet in the
Foresters' Hall on Friday night of
this week. The new officers for the
Club are 0. B. Wilkinson Pres A.
Proctor Vice Pres., Harry Hopper,
Sec'y Treas. Program committee—
Jas. Taylor, Robt. Coultes. Rich. Proc-
tor, and John Clegg are the two effi,
cient directors who are endeavoring to
promote the interests of the Club and
Farmers' Iestitute.
A social evening will be given by
the Young People's Guild in Knox
church on the evening of March 30th,
An interesting part of the program
will be a debate, the subject being—
"Resolved that the poor man can do
more with his genius than the rich
man with .his money." Affirmative
side will be taken by Jas, Mre.
Boyle and Chas. Cole, and the nega-
tive by Miss Maggie Wightnean, Miss
Lillie McLean and James McCallum.

Mr. Geo. Armstrong and festally re•
turned from the West last Week, He
le in very poor health, being confined
to bed at Retry Grainger's home,
Mra. Grainger, Miss Bevin and Mas-
ter Carl Grainger left for the West on
Tuesday, Carl was presented with a
handsome tiepin by the pupils and
teacher of the school on Monday,
A -large crowd attended the sale of
T. W. Jackliu on Tuesday of last week
and. good prices were realized, Two
hundred bene were sold at an average
price of 90 cents; each, 4 geese brought
$9. Turkeye sold for from three to
four dollars each. Yearling cattle
brought 43 dollars each.
A general move was made in this
neighborhood last week. Wm. Marsh
moved to the vacant house of Geo.
McDonald, Alex. McCracken moved
to the farm which he has leased from
T. W. Jacklin, who moved to Wroxe-
ter. Frank Bolt also moved to the
house of Jas. Markley north of Wroxe-
ter.

at Thos, Abram's over Sunday. •
Mre. A. McEwen is home from the
Hospital, feeling much better.
Mrs. G. Orvis and children aro visit-

A pretty wedding was solemnized et

Florence was united in marriage to
Mr, John Sellers of Moose Jaw, Sask.
At 5 o'clock the wedding party entered
the parlor to the strains of Wagners
Bridal Chorus, played by Mrs. Cooke.
The bride who was given away by her
father was daintily dressed in blue silk
crepe-de.cheno with pipings of burnt
orange, yoke of cream fish net and
vest of We satin. Itev, J. E. 'Cooke
spoke the mystic words which made

Mr. J. S. Scott of Wingham was in
town on Saturday.
At the meeting of the directors of
the Blyth. Telephone system held last
week, lure. Bennett was re-engaged as
operator and Richard Hoy as lineman
at an increaee of $50 per annum.
Owing to the removal of Dr. Charles-
worth from town, it becomes necessary
to fill the vacancy caused on the school
board, Nominations will be held in
Industry Hall on Monday, March 23rd
at 12 o'clock. -
What might have resulted in three
deaths from asphyxication, was avert-
ed on Wednesday morning, very
simply, Mrs. Bennett, operator at the
Central Office received a call from Mrs.
Mason, East Wawanosh to speak to
her mother, Mre. Fenwick, Mrs. Ben-
nett sent in several calls and not get-
ting an answer, became anxious and
called up Alex. Hann, the nearest
neighbor with a phone. Mr. Taylor
and Mr, Hann could not gain •an
entrance by the door, so took off the
storm window and found the house
full of gas from the coal stove, and
Mrs, Fenwick, her granddaughter and
Mr. Fells unconscioue. A doctor was
called and after some effort they were
revived.

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Doubledee called
on friends in Harriston last week,
Special services are being conducted
every night this week in the Methodist
Church.
Mr. Finlay Mclutosh left here on
Monday with a carload of horses, for
the West,

improving.
Mrs. T. Meacham is under the doctor's
care at present. We hope to soon
hear of her recovery.

Quite a number from these parts
took in the bargains in Wingham on
St. Patrick's Day, in spite of the bad
roads.
Mr. Jas. Breen of Turnberry is remov-
ing to Mr. W. Hay's farm on the 13th.

Breen into this community.
Rev. W. H. Robarts of Gorrie con-
ducted prayer meeting at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Harris, B. L'!ne, on Mon-
day night last. Quite a number were
present at the meeting.

preached two excellent sermons to a
large congregation at Union Church
last Sabbath,

Secret preparations are going on for
the program contest which is to be
held between the married and single
members of the Literary Society on
Mar. 25th. Mayor Irwin bas consent-
ed to act as judge and the, contestants
are trying to make his work as hard
as possible, Come early in order to
secure a seat.
Mr. emigre. jm. Merkley and family
have removed to Belmore vicinity and
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bolt and family
now occupy the premises vacated by
Mr, Merkley.

Mrs. (Dr) Armstrong called on
friends in Wroxeter on Tuesday,

ton on Wednesday to curl and renam-

Rev. Mr. Robarts is holding Lenten
services every evening at the different
residences of his parishioners in town.
Mre, Wm. Irwin has been very ill
for the past week with erysipelas, but
we are glad to report her convalescent.
Mies E Ross has been in the post
office for the last week, Miss Anna
Irwin being detained at home on ac-
count of her mother's illness.
Dr. Armstrong arrived home on
Friday night, after spending fotir
weeks in ].astern Ontario at inspection
work for the Ontario Government.
Mr. Tait and Mr. Andrews of the
Bank of Hamilton were at the social
given by the Women's Institute at
Jamestown, Thursday evening, and
report a good time.
The social held at Mr. John Hvnd-
man's by the Ladies' Aid of the Pres-
byterian Church on Friday evening
was a deeided success. A most pleas-
ing and profitable entertainment was
given. The proceeds were $25.70.
Mrs. Joseph Sanderson died at her
home north of town on Saturday
morning after a short illnese. The
funeral took place on Monday from
her late residence to the Gorrie ceme
tory. The service was conducted by
her pastor, Rev. Mr, Robarts. Mrs
Sanderson's husband pre deceased her
three years ago. She leaves a grown
np family of sons and daughters to
mourn the lose of a loving mother.

Some are preparing for sugar mak-
ing.
There is some talk of a new Union
Church here.
Mr. W. H. Love was in Brussels Tues-
day on business.
Miss B. Bartley is back in the res-
taurant for the summer.
Mr. Joseph Welsh is packing up and
will move westward soon.
Mr. Joe Nicholson of Brussels spent
Sunday and Monday in town.

One of the oldeet residents of Ulla
locality paesed away Sunday night
last, by the nate of Wins, King,
Miss G. Colvin and Mrs, P. McQuay-
ria of Brussels and Mrs, D. Kennedy of
Goderich visited friends here last
week.
Mr, jack Mitchell baa purchased a
farm from Charlie. Knight and will
take poseseion shortly on the 10 th, con-
cession of Grey.
On Wednesday, March llth., a very
happy event took place at "Clover
Leaf Lodge". East Wawanosh, the
residence of Mr, and Mrs. Alfred Brad -
hum, when their only daughter Miss
Vara 0. hararne the bride of Mr
Cornelius McCrea, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Charles, McCrea of Morris. The bride
was beautifully attired in a dress of
cream sublime and carried a hrcluet of
white roses. The marriage ceremony
took place under an arch of evergreens
a,nd white roses. The bride was given
away by her father, while Miss Laura
McCrea played the wedding march.
The ceremony was performed by Rea.
T. H. Farr, who used the impressive
service of the Church of England. The
groom's gift to the bride was a beauti-
ful pearl ring. Mr. and Mrs. McCrea
will live on the old McCrea homestead
adjoining Belgrave. They have the
best wishes of their many friends.
